If you don’t like the applications and tools on the AT&T Samsung captivate, you can hack the samsung captivate to install new apps or tools on it that you like. Then how to root the Samsung Captivate, fortunately, I just find the way for myselt, and I have successed to hack my Captivate i897 through the method. Now I share the manual of ooting the samsung captivate here, hope it works for you!

Files:Captivate Root file
Samsung Galaxy S Drivers

1. Make sure your phone’s USB debug mode: (a menu> “Settings”> application “> Development> USB debugging (debugging)
2. For Windows x86 and x64 systems to ensure that the Samsung driver installation. To Download the Samsung Captivate driver here.
3. Copy GalaxyS_Captivate_One-Click_Root.rar to a folder.
4. Connect your phone to a computer via USB, double-click the “AT & T Captivate One-Click Root.ext”
5. Click the “One-Click Root” button. Complete

The final step is AT & T Captivate One-Click Root.exe. (Requires. Net Framework 4.0 support)

Note: this root method also works on samsung galaxy s and samsung Vibrant.
