AT&T Samsung Captivate Android 2.2 froyo update available for download

Today finally I upgrade my AT&T Samsung Captivate from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 froyo, the update indeed brings some fixs and improvement for the Samsung Captivate, such as the Android 2.2 update supports the Flash Player 10.1 and so on. After getting the update, I find I lover my Captivate I9000 so much!

You can get the froyo update for your Samsung Captivate android smartphone via the OTA, well, if you have download and installed the Samsung Captivate update, twitter how about it is.

How to download and install the Samsung Captivate froyo update:

- Desktop/Laptop Computer Running 32bit Versions Of Either Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, or XP
- All Firewall & Anti-Virus Programs Should Be Disabled
- Administrative Privileges Required To Download & Install Software Including Drivers
- An Available USB Port On The PC That Supports 2.0 USB
- Windows Media Runtime 11 (automatically installed by Kies Mini if not present)
-PHONE Fully Charged Battery
- USB Data Cable (Included In Retail Box)
- Any PreviousSamsung Kies Software Should Be Removed
Step 1: Obtaining Kies Mini

To obtain a copy of Kies Mini for the PC, click on the download button below.[Download here]

Save the file to a specified location, recommend desktop for easy access.

Note: Please skip to Step 3: if you have previously downloaded and upgraded using Kies Mini. An automatic update (to the latest version) may occur when Kies Mini is launched.

Step 2: Installing Kies Mini

1. Double click the Kies Mini file . The program will then extract files needed for installation..

2. Location and language is selected by default, click the Next button.

3. Read over the license agreement, check “I accept the terms…” and then click the Next button

4. Kies Mini will begin installation.

5. Please Check “Yes, I want to restart my computer now”, then click Finish to restart the computer

Step 3: Configuring Device/Driver Install

While the computer is restarting, we will need to configure the phone so that Kies Mini can talk to it. Follow the steps below:

  1. Enable USB Debugging on your phone. To do this press the Menu key, go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Tap Ok to the message.
  2. Once the computer has restarted, Plug the USB cable into the phone and then into the computer. The computer should detect new hardware and install automatically. It will do this for several devices and may take a few moments.
  3. Unplug the cable from the phone and power off the device. Hold down both the volume up & down keys while inserting the data cable. The phone will enter a Downloading mode (see example Below).
  4. The computer will then install the rest of the driver files. If there is a problem with Windows finding the driver, let it search online to find them. Once the computer is finished (See example below).

    Unplug the device from the computer, remove and replace the battery and then power on the device.

  5. Please Restart your computer.

Step 4: Device Upgrading

1. Once the computer has restarted, Open Kies Mini and plug the USB cable into the phone.

2. Click on Phone Upgrade.

3. Read over the Caution statements and check “I have read and understood…” and then click the Upgrade button.

4. Kies Mini will contact the server and download the binary. Downloading time varies on network conditions. It may take a few minutes.

5. Kies Mini will start upgrading the device. Once the upgrade is started Do Not disconnect your Phone.

6. Click the Ok button to finish.

7. Disconnect the cable from the phone. On the phone, USB Debugging should be disabled. To do this, press the Menu key, go to Settings > Applications > Development > and tap on USB debugging.

    i followed step 3 but mi pc dont download drivers, eventhoug signal of battery charging is on, pls help to make my pc detect my samsung i897
