Finally, Sony Ericsson releases the software update- Android 2.1 Eclair for AT&T Xperia X10, sadly, you can鈥檛 receive directly the Android 2.1 update to your phone, but you have to download firstly the Eclair update to your PC, then connect your Xperia X10 phone with your PC, then copy the files to your phone鈥 Sd card, finally to install the software update for you device. If you don鈥檛 know how to do it, you can do exactly as the manual steps below:
Step 1:The first thing you will need to do to update your AT&T X10 is download the backup application from the Android鈩 Market. It鈥檚 easy, just follow the steps below.
1.Go the Android鈩 Market
2.Search for “X10 Backup”
3. Install the program (its free!)
4.Run the program 鈥 it鈥檚 backing up your files to your SD card right now.

Now that you have backed up all your information, you need to prepare your PC in order to the run the upgrade. This is really easy 鈥 only 2 simple steps.

So far you鈥檝e backed up your phone information, your PC is ready to go, and now you
need to get your phone ready for the upgrade. Just follow these simple steps.
1.Connect your phone with the USB cord to your computer and follow the
instructions on your computer screen.
Steps 4:
Before the software upgrade begins, we鈥檙e going to ask you some questions to make sure that you鈥檝e prepared your phone. We鈥檙e just double checking to make sure that everything goes smoothly.
1.Have you performed the backup program on your phone?
If you have, great. Then follow the instructions on your screen to prepare your phone, and yes, you do need to unplug your phone.
2.Follow the instructions on your computer screen and the upgrade will start
automatically. The process will take about 30 minutes, so grab a beverage and
relax while your phone is upgraded to Android鈩 2.1.
Steps 5:
When you see the screen pictured on the right, the software upgrade is complete! Just a few more steps and your phone will be ready to go.
Steps 6:
Now you鈥檒l need to take the final steps get your phone all set up. It鈥檚 easy.
1.Go the Android鈩 Market
2.Enter your Google account information.
3.Hit the home key, then find the Backup & Restore Application
4.Select the backup file that you made earlier

Once the Backup and Restore has finished, you鈥檙e ready to go! Enjoy!

Sony Ericsson just released????…. Oh no, Sony released it on October 31st 2010. AT&T just released 2.1, and an outdated version I might add! And with 2.3.3 Gingerbread on the way in Q2 or Q3 of this year why bother with this update? Wow!!! 2.1 茅clair, now people using your bloated firmware are stuck 2 MAJOR updates behind everyone else! This phone has great hardware and no provider to back it up with decent software…. Please AT&T customers, debrand your phone and get what you paid for.
