AT&T Cell Phones

Unlocking iPhone 3G to make it work with others instead of at&t

Some iphone 3G users want ot unlock their phones to to avoid AT&T.But this is a little diffcult.Usually translates into different hardware required in the phone to work on each of these network types.
Then whether the action is feasible.Below there are four views about this problem. You can see and refer to these options.Hope they are useful for you.
1.I believe that AT&T uses GSM, whereas Verizon uses CDMA. This usually translates into different hardware required in the phone to work on each of these network types. Unless the iPhone radio chip is a lot more versatile than anything I remember reading, this isn’t technically possible for an unlocked phone.
2.AT&T and Verizon use different wireless technologies. They are not
compatible. AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM, and phones are mostly
compatible between them (of course locked phones must be unlocked
first) Sprint and Verizon use CDMA and are also mostly compatible,
but unlocking and getting a phone from one provider to work with
another might be a bit more difficult. You can not use a GSM phone
on CDMA or vice versa.
3.I don’t think Verizon uses 3G? My understanding was that an unlocked iPhone
would only work with T-Mobile or AT&T in the US.
4.AT&T (formerly Cingular) and T-Mobile are the primary GSM carriers in the USA. I understand T-Mobile has a tower sharing agreement with AT&T in some areas, so T-Mobile coverage may not be much better. By operating a simpler GSM only network, T-Mobile does offer several attractive plans with lower rates.

Verizon and Sprint both use CDMA, but on different frequency bands so their respective phones are not generally cross network compatible.

3G technology uses a form of Wideband CDMA which was designed as the next evolutionary step for GSM networks (also known as UMTS). Some observers hope and believe cell phone carriers will gradually converge on UMTS or similar common technology to maximize interoperability and economies of scale, but this will be a complicated long term process.
If you have solved the problem ,can you share the method with everyone? If so ,you can comment this article.
