Official: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 got the OTA update to be removed Quick Search Box
It’s offiical, following the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III, recently Samsung released the OTA update for AT&T Galaxy S3, the update has removed thee Universal Search function — a feature for which Apple has an existing patent.
The聽Quick Search Box preinstalled on Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S 3聽judged by rulers in US聽 to infringe onApple’s patent, later Apple delivered an application on banning the聽 Galaxy Nexus, and finally approved by聽 the court. It is said聽 Apple was also considered to apply to ban the sale of Galaxy S III, so the Samsung and carriers choosed to firstly to removed the聽Universal Search function 聽 , this action is indeed very prophetic.
After getting the upgrade, the聽search box function of AT&T version of Galaxy S III聽 will be weakened. In addtion, Samsung hasn’t mention whether the聽 T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless Galaxy s3 will get the OTA update , if so, when Samsung will release the update for the other version of US galaxy s3, it is yet not known so far.
