How to transfer Mp3/Music files from PC to AT&T Samsung Flight a797
There are several different methods to transfer MP3/music files from a computer to the AT&T Samsung Flight A797 . Each are explained in below, just choose the easiest way for you.
Note:1. The minimum size limit for the microSD memory card聽is 32MB. This phone supports the use of a microSDHC 16GB capacity memory card.
2. If the Bluetooth feature is currently active on the聽phone, USB communication will not be available. To transfer files to your phone, turn off the Bluetooth functionality or click here for instructions.
3. Before connecting the phone & PC, the microSD memory card must be formatted by the phone to create the necessary folders. For instructions on how to format a microSD memory card, click here.
Method 1: To transfer MP3 files, using the Mass Storage option, follow the steps below:
- Insert a formatted memory card into the memory card slot, located under the battery cover
- From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting聽is set to either Mass Storage or Ask on Connection
- For instructions on changing the USB mode setting, click here.
- Connect the USB cable to both the phone’s Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC’s USB slot

- When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top of the display

- If prompted, Select the Mass Storage USB setting
- If prompted, click “Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer” on the new Removable Disk screen or open Windows Explorer manually

- Navigate to the MP3 file location on the PC
- Drag n Drop or copy & paste the MP3 file into into the phone’s Music or Tones folders, located within the Audio folder, on the handset
Method 2: To transfer MP3 files, using the Windows Media Player Sync Music聽option, follow the steps below:
- From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting聽is set to either Media Player or Ask on Connection
- For instructions on changing the USB mode setting, click here.
- Connect the USB cable to both the phone’s Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC’s USB slot
- When successfully connected, the phone will show the connected icon on the top of the display

- If prompted, select the Media Player USB setting
- Open Windows Media Player 10 or higher then click on the Sync tab
- From the Windows Media Player application Sync tab, ensure that the SGH-A797 device displays in the upper-right corner of the screen. If not, click on Next device until the SGH-A797 appears.
- Click on the Library plus sign (+) then click on Songs to display a list
- Drag or Add the MP3 file(s) from the library to the Sync List or playlist
- Select Start Sync to transfer the MP3 file(s) to the handset memory
- After the file transfer is completed it will be safe to remove the USB data cable from both the handset & PC
Method 3: To transfer (Via a memory card) MP3 files, from a PC, to the Samsung phone follow the steps below:
Note: Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are stored in the Music Folder. You can not set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB.
On the PC
- Insert the microSD memory card into the memory card adaptor
- Insert the memory card adaptor into the memory card reader
- Connect the memory card reader to the PC鈥檚 USB port
- Copy desired MP3 files from the PC hard drive
- Paste the MP3 files into the microSD memory card’s Music or Tones folder, within the Audio folder
- Remove the microSD memory card from the memory card adaptor
On the Samsung phone
- While in standby mode, insert the microSD memory card into the memory card slot, located under the battery cover
- Press Menu
- Press My Stuff
- Press the drop down arrow then press Memory Card
- Press Audio
- Press either the Music or Tones folder
- Press Manage
- Press either Move or Copy
- Press on each MP3 file to check their boxes or press All to check all boxes
- Press either Move or Copy
- Press Phone
- Press the Audio folder
- Press either the Tones or Music folder
- Press either Paste here or Move here to Move or Copy the MP3 file(s) to the handset
Method 4: To transfer MP3 files From a PC, via a Bluetooth adaptor, to the Samsung phone follow the steps below:
Note: Audio files less than 300 KB are treated as ringtones, whereas audio files which are greater than 300 KB are stored in the Music Folder. You cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone if it is larger than 300 KB.
On the Samsung phone
- While in standby mode, turn Bluetooth On
- Change the phone鈥檚 Bluetooth visibility to On
On the PC
- Connect the Bluetooth adaptor to the PC鈥檚 USB port
- Search for Bluetooth devices
- Select the SGH-A797 to pair with the PC
- Exchange PIN code(s) on both the PC & phone to pair devices (default pass code is 鈥0000鈥)
- Using Windows explorer, locate desired MP3 file
- Right click on the MP3 file
- Select send to Bluetooth then select the phone
On the Samsung phone
- Accept incoming data from the PC
