  • Setting up the ringtone is very easy. You just go into your contacts, tap the person you want to select, click edit… down at the bottom of the screen is a down arrow, click that & scroll down & there is the spot to edit their ringtone.

  • In order to set mp3 as caller id each contact must be seperately saved to phone select a contact push edit scroll down to memory push memory and select phone and it will work after that.

  • How do you know if it is less than 300kb and how do you get that?

  • Ummmm, I have a question. I want to get the Xenon but I don’t know if I should change networks. Right now, my network is Sprint. I don’t know if I should change or not. If I don’t change, I get the LG Lotus. But if I do I was wondering to get the Xenon. What should I do.

    Comment by micaiah — June 18, 2009

  • If you don’t want to change networks, then you have to wait for lg xeon coming to sprint

    Comment by AT&T Cell Phones — June 20, 2009

  • why does it have to be less then 300kb???:S that means my ringtone is gunna be like 5 seconds long

    Comment by bigguy — June 25, 2009

  • You wrote “1. From the standby screen, tap the Menu icon>Tap the My Stuff> tabTap Audio>Scroll to and tap the desired ringtone>Tap the Options icon>Tap Use As>Tap Ringtone”

First of all, I don’t have a “My Stuff” menu/icon, nor an “Audio” icon. I do have something called “Organizer” under which there is an icon called “Audio and Ring Tones” . It shows the standard ring tones that are in the phone’s internal memory as well as the mp3’s that I have on the SIM card. If I select one of the ring tones that came with the phone, it plays it and if I tap the Options icon I get the Use as> ring tone as you suggest. However if I select one of the mp3’s (290k, 18 sec long) on the SIM card, it plays it, and if I tap the Options icon I DO NOT get the Use as >ring tone option. Instead there are 4 other options, none having anything to do with ring tones.

What do I need to do to use one of the MP3’s on the SIM card as a ring tone?

    Thanks!
    Dan

    Comment by Dan — June 25, 2009

  • Maybe in order to let you download more musicinto your phone. But less then 300kb doesn’t means your ringtone will be 5 seconds long

    Comment by AT&T Cell Phones — June 25, 2009

  • How do you set a personal ringtone ID for text messages? I know how to set a ringtone for all messages, but going to Sound>Message Tone> and then selecting it. I also know how to set a ringtone ID for a specific person, by going to their contact>edit>ringtone. But how do you set one for texts? So when a certain person texts you, it plays.

    Comment by Sierra — June 29, 2009

  • No, you can’t do that

    Comment by AT&T Cell Phones — June 30, 2009

  • How do you set up a group ringtone? This is all that the manual says :(

“This menu allows you to manage group
information. By default, there are 4 groups:
Colleague, Family, Friends and School. Or you
can put a contact in No Group. You can also
configure a ring tone for a group so that the
group ring tone sounds when a call from a
specific contact address within that group is
received and there is no ring tone configured
    for the specific contact address.”

“From the standby screen, tap the Menu icon>Tap the My Stuff> tabTap Audio>Scroll to and tap the desired ringtone>Tap the Options icon>Tap Use As>Tap Ringtone”
but that only works if it is an at&t ringtone. i want to use my own audio file that i have recorded and the audio file that i have recieved in a text message that ive saved in the audio folder. is there any way to set those as my ringtone?

I have the mp3 less than 300k and it does play in the music player… however it does not allow nor do i see the ADD AS RINGTUNE as an option.

Is it only possible to set it for certain people or groups and not a general ring for everyone????
I think this may answer a bunch of questions?

If im doing something i should.. please let me know!

    thanks

What i did was got the ring.song to be less than the 300kb. I then sent that song to my wifes phone using bluetooth. (or anyone elses. After i sent it, i deleted the file… and then sent it back to myself via bluetooth. When i get it back it asks if you want it as the ringtune… and viola!!!!

Yes, finally!!! The only thing is, you cant choose multiple as it. And i dont think you can do the same for text message notifications… ah well… that will do for now!!!

but is it possible to have diffrent Text tones, for diffrent people?
because all my contacts are the same song when they text,
and i find it annoying how i don`t know who is texting me until i read it.
    thanks much.

  • OK I GOT LG XENON 2 DAYS AGO AND AFTER 48 HOURS OF TRYING TO SET MY FAVORITE SONG (DRAKE-BEST I EVER HAD) AS MY RINGTONE IT FINALLY WORKED…THIS IS WHAT I DID
    1. I DOWNLOADED AUDACITY AND CHOOSE LESS THAN 20 SECONDS OF THE SONG AND EXPORTED IT AS A WAV FILE
    2. I WENT ON ZAMZAR.COM AND CONVERTED THAT WAV FILE AS A MP3
    3. I PUT THAT NEW MP3 FILE IN MY PHONE
    4. I SENT IT TO MY SISTERS PHONE VIA BLUETHOOTH…AFTER SHE RECEIVED IT I DELETED IT
    5. SHE SENT ME BACK THE SAME FILE AND AS SOON AS I GOT IT I HAD THE OPTION TO SELECT IT AS MY RINGTONE (THANK YOU JAY)
    6. DONT FORGET THAT IT HAS TO BE LESS THAN 20 SECONDS AND NO MORE THAN 300 KB!! IF I DID IT ALL OF YOU CAN
    7. IT MIGHT SOUND COMPLICATED BUT I WAS WORTH IT AT THE END
    8. GOOD LUCK

    Comment by emily — August 30, 2009

  • How do you change caller GROUP ringtones? I know how to assign them to new groups but I don’t know how to change them once they have been created. I don’t care about downloading new songs and converting them or anything like that. I’ll use the ringtones that are already on the phone. There was one other person that asked about this but her question was never answered.

    Thanks.
