I’m trying to change my message alert tone and you say to “Use the drop down arrow” to change the message alert type from the messaging screen. There is no drop down arrow anywhere in the messaging menu for a Sumsung Impression. Are you even talking about the right phone?

This does not help at all.

This does work to change the tone for your message. You have to look under the sound profiles (outdoor, car, normal, etc.) For example you touch the outdoor setting and it will open to allow you to change the volume/ vibration as well as the tone for your calls. At the top there is a drop down box and you can change from calls to messaging and that is where you go to change the tone for you messages as well as the volume/vibration. The sound has to be on your phone, not just on a memory card.

Here is how to do it:

    -Press the menu icon
    -Press on the setting icon
-Press on the sound profile icon
    -Press on the “normal” icon

Once you are there, there is an icon where you can switch between “call”, “message”, and “phone”… when you choose “message” you go to a new menu.

In this new menu you can choose message alert type (melody, vibration, vibration & melody, mute), message alert tone (where you can select one of the tones available or choose a tone that you have saved on the phone or memory card), alert repetitions, tone volume, and vibration patterns.

    There you go!
