AT&T Samsung Solstice Tricks – Install Google maps with GPS Via TKFE

Here is one trick to tell us how to install Google maps on AT&T Samsung Solstice via the TKFE install method,

1) Delete any previous versions of google maps

2) Download the jar and the jad from below to your computer

Notes锛欰pps have to have a special code in the jad for this to happen on the solstice.

MIDlet-ScreenMode: ROTATE

3) Install Google maps with the TKFE install method

    Jad and Jar are here:
    http://www.samsung-mythic.com/third-party-samsung-mythic-software/full-screen-touch-google-maps-with-andgtworkingandlt-gps/

You have to register (free) and signin then you can download it. I got it working this morning.

This is not really news. If you go to m.google.com they have the google maps with GPS except it is not really GPS. It uses triangulation from cell towers and has a plus or minus 2700 meters. It puts me almost a mile from my actual location.

First install the PC Studio for your phone without the phone being plugged in to PC
((AFTER THIS 鈥 The Whole time KEEP THE PHONE PHYSICALLY PLUGGED IN))

鈥溾濃濃滻 couldn鈥檛 see any COM ports鈥濃濃濃

    first open PC Studio
    click on connect to phone
once phone is discovered you know it can talk鈥︹

now click on connect and disconnect the phone
attempt to connect again inside pc studio and click on manual setting

here you have option of drop down for port to use. the port which shows up here is the port name you need while using TKFE

disconnect the phone in the PC studio by first clicking on connect and click disconnect
all the way in the bottom right hand corner a small icon is still running for the PC Studio
right click the PC Studio icon in the task bar and click on STOP MONITORING

**************** now you are reasy for TKFE********************

remember the COM* Port you saw when you tried to connect via PC Studio? good

open TKFE click on the port config button and see if you can now see that port available. if not manually type it in鈥

    Good Luck
