  • Hello,

I’m am trying, with no luck, to connect my wife’ Solstice to my PC to install wallpapers and custom ring-tones.
It is being recognized as new hardware via USB, but says that there are no drivers available even though I do have Samsung PC Studio 3 installed. Any ideas?

  • If you have a blue-tooth devise for your computer turn your phone’s blue-tooth on, connect via blue-tooth to your computer, right-click on the wallpaper image or ringtone file, then mouse over Send To, and click Bluetooth Devise. Once you do that you can double click on the name of your phone which you can find in your phone by going to the Bluetooth settings then My Info. It will start downloading to your phone.
I’ve used it to add wallpaper, images and sounds to my phone very easily, without a program. I think your computer and phone has to have the right blue-tooth transfer driver though.

  • I was able to get the soltice software to install successfully Window 7 64 bit. When the software is downloaded to you computer, go to where the exe file is located on your computer, right click on the file and select properties. Under the compatibility tab, select XP service pack 2, and check the box that says “run this program as administrator.” Once I did this the program installed and opened successfully. Good luck

  • I have tried for three days to get some photos off of this phone for an assignment due tomorrow morning. Why is this so difficult? The last phone I had worked perfect for photos, I just plugged it into the USB and it popped right up. Should I return something or get a different phone that doesn’t have these difficulties???? If so which phone can I get that is normal.

  • So what about mac??????? i really hate this phone, i had a sony ericson before, soooo much better, a lot older than this phone and 0 glitches compared to a laundry list of things wrong with this phone, customer service at the at&t stores are terrible, i could help people more than they can. if people are going to run a phone store, they should know more than just how to sell them

    Comment by :( — June 17, 2010

  • Well you dont need to download this crap. If you want to get ringtones, bluetooth it to ur phone but u need a bluetooth receiver for ur computer. you can get it off ebay for like $1.00. Or you can just get the USB for the Soltice. You DO NOT need any software. I thought this too til i figured it out.

  • Both this website and Samsungs website have driver software that does not work. How can 2 tech companies have such crappy websites??? Samsung blows and so does ATT. I am going to T-mobile. If anyone has this piece of shit you will be better off throwing it in the garbage and getting a different phone.

Comment by This phone blows — November 1, 2010

  • Considering I’ve long been a big fan of Samsung products, this is really disappointing for me. This is the second Samsung cell phone I’ve owned that had a major PC Studio issue that interfered with its fundamental operation (the other being the a437’s un-erasable internal memory). I mean, come on. This isn’t some minor bug with an easy workaround. It isn’t something that affects only a small minority of users on some ancient operating system. Samsung- make it right! I realize this isn’t a brand new top-of-the-line phone here, but if it takes me getting a Captivate for Samsung to give a shit about me, no thanks I’ll get an iphone instead.

  • Hi

I’ve just bought the samsung advance sgh-A885 and after spending 2 hours with my cell company and samsung company I (not them) found out that my frontal USB port on my crappy HP machine are not working with this phone (they work with my mp3 player and alot of other stuff) but for some unknown reason they refuse to see my cell phone when i try to sync. So i just plug it in the usb slot in back of my HP pc and it finnaly worked.

For your info NPS or new pc studio is available on the samsung web site (version 1.5.1) and contain the drivers (cause in the box of my cell phone they were no cd for the drivers or what so ever). So after downloading and installaing NPS 1.5.1 and found it out that my frontal usb port were not working everything started to work.

Sorry for the missspelling, I’m french so english is not my native langage.

  • The following is for XP computers. But keeping your pc up to date with windows updates is always the first step to happiness when installing crap like this.

I followed this link that was posted above and it works fine on my pc with exception to the address book feature but you can’t have it all i guess.

Go to downloads link then drivers. Grab the latest version of studio and save it some were on your pc. Was a real slow download…zzzzz. Just remember were you put it. Next make sure your .net updates are up to date and your windows updates are current. XP is Service Pack (SP) 3 now. both of those updates are important or you will taste failure and it has nothing to do with Samsung.

Go ahead and go to control panel, add/remove programs and remove Samsung drivers. I saw a driver removal tool during driver install so this may not be necessary but im telling you what worked for me. When it ask’s you to restart do so. When pc is finished rebooting go to were you downloaded studio program and install it. Very Important!!! Don’t plug your phone in till studio is finished installing, doing so may cause you to fail miserably and mean a uninstall/reinstall of studio.

Enjoy your new software, i know i will now that i can finally put video clips on my phone that will actually play for friends at work using the converter in studio. If anyone figures out address book, let me know. I’m wondering if it doesn’t work since i told phone to save address’s to memory chip instead of phone ram…..

    Comment by Ray — May 4, 2011

  • I’m sorry to tell you that there is no a version to be compatilble with a Mac, so you can consider change one PC run Window OS

    Comment by AT&T Cell Phones — May 5, 2011

  • Yes you can do this on a Mac – arguable it’s even easier. But the included software does not work.

If all you want to do is move music you don’t even need software. Buy a memory chip for your phone (micro SD – 16Gb is the Max which will cost you $30). Put the memory chip in the phone according to the directions that cam with the phone. Turn it on.

Plug the phone in to the sub cable – plug the other end into the Mac. The phone will now give you a couple of choices and you want the mass storage mode. Now put the phone to the side and go to your Mac.

-in the finder you will see a new disk probably called “No Name” – open it and you will see some folders, one will be called “Audio” open that one (it will be empty the first time). Now open your Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music (older versions) or Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Media -> Music (latest version)

From here copy the artist (the whole folder) to the phone (the first window you opened). By keeping the music in the Artist and Album folder the phone will also see and be able to sort by artist and album.

After everything is done copying – click the eject button next to the “No Name” icon in the finder. Unplug the phone – you’re done.

When you open the phone’s music player it can take a few moments before the full list is there (the first time only).

OR there are several third, shareware and freeware applications that will do all of this for you – many do even more like copy your photos from the phone to the mac, or syncing the playlist. There are literally a dozen of these – I have tried a few and they all seem to work. Google “sync music from itunes to phone” (Samsung or ATT have nothing to do with this).

To sync your contacts and calendar – iSync is already on your Mac, it is better that just about anything else (this is why most phone vendors do not offer Mac software) – But it might take a few months before your phone is supported in the standard version (the one that just comes with software update). You will have to find a “driver” for your phone – again Google is the best place to look.

    Good Luck.

I will also add my voice to the rest of the group, what a pain in the ass it was to find these.
