AT&T Samsung Mythic Vs Samsung Impression Reviews
Which AT&T Phone is better, the Samsung Mythic or the Samsung Impression? Persoanlly, I’m still preferring to the Impression phone.
In first, though the Mythic is a new model, but I think it has no too much improvements, it looks like the samsung impression, but it has no lines, edges, or forms of neat like impression. AT&T Cell phone Reviews
In second, Both the Mythic and Impression have a large touchscreen, while the Samsung Mythic is a bar with virtual QWERTY keypad, and the samsung impression a side-slier with a full Qwerty keypad, which we know the full keypad is good for texting messages, so the impressio聽 is easier to use. In addtion, I hear that the Samsung Mythic’s touchscreen freezes sometimes, but it lessly happens on Samsung Impression. To me, the Samsung Mythic has no important as having everything else is one phone. It does not even have Visual Voicemail or threaded text messaging, so if you are going to choose one messaging phone, it’s not a good choice. AT&T Samsung Impression info
What’s worse, the samsung Mythic is more expensive than Samsung impression. Now the impression is priced at only $79, but you have to spend at least $199 for the mythic phone. However, you can get the mythic without a pricy data plan. If you are looking to get a quality phone that has a lot of capabilities without paying more per month on your bill, this is the phone to get.

Impression BC Mythic has bad touchscreen and is two hundred dollars,it only has two good features, 3 home screens, better mobile TV,and keyboard but thats it
Well I’ve heavily researched and played with both phones and ended up getting the impression since it’s cheap, but I have really have buyer’s remorse.
The mythic’s advantages over the impression are:
newer OS with more customizable widgets and multiple home screens,
built in social networking apps, native gmail and IM client,
more accurate html browser with easier interface,
better camera with auto focus and flash,
much higher rez screen that’s slightly larger,
and standard 3.5mm headphone jack and micro usb – not that proprietary samsung plug.
The impression’s advantages are price and maybe the physical keyboard, if that’s important.
I am really confused on which fone to get. there are advantages and disasdvantages on both. I like the customization on the mythic, but i like the full keyboard on the impression. HELP!
i peronally recommend the Mythic, because it is newer, and ive come to believe that newer phones last longer! my friend says that most touch screens break easily…WITHOUT A CASE! SO GET ONE! it is also fun (if you get the mythic) to say that your phone is NEWER than somebody with the impression! thats my opinion! =>
I own an impression. ive never used the Mythic but my only comment is about the durabilty of the touchscreen. I may be lucky but I dont have a case, just the clear plastic screen protecter with the typical air bubbles underneath. About a week ago i stepped out of my vehicle on a dark gravel road and unbeknownst to me, i dropped my Impression -touch screen facing down. I got back in my car and started to go in reverse not realizing that i did not have my phone…. that is until i saw it gleaming in my headlights (did i mention it was pouring down rain?). I instantly realized that the chances were pretty high that i ran it over with my V6 Coupe. And sure enough I had done just that. I had ran it over, face down, on a podunk, back country, gravel road. BUT imagine my shock when i saw the damage was limited to what resembled what you would see in your windshield after following a log truck during the winter. Only a deep chip, gouged out by the weight of my vehicle. Not pretty, but definitely not what i expected… maybe it was just luck. who knows.
I own the mythic and it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the impression is way to heavy and bulky
Do not get the impression, ive had 4 replacements. And every single one keeps glitching and freezing! I have 2 friends that are having the same issue…Internet is very slow, and not very many apps. I dont not recomment at all!!!
Do not get the impression, ive had 4 replacements. And every single one keeps glitching and freezing! I have 2 friends that are having the same issue…Internet is very slow, and not very many apps. I do not recommend at all!!!
I don’t recommend the impression. I am on my 4th phone within one month. The text messages never send and i have to restart my phone and on 2 phones i couldn’t make calls. I love the phone but i hate the hassle of software issues. I also know a few other people that have had this same problem. I am about to get the mythic and try that out. Hopefully that works!!
well…i just got a mythic and i looove it!!!! I was going to get the impression but every one i talk to said it was always freezing up. i suggest Mythic it has everything impression has but its is more customizable and more it so awesoome!!!
Both phones do have pluses and negatives but i would prefer the mythic. although the impression has a full qwerty keyboard, the virtual keyboard on the mythic worked soooooo much better than i would have thought. all of my friends had a hard time using my old fone, the lg vu, because of the touchscreen. but now that i have the mythic it works alot better. i have seen many reviews and most have said that the touchscreen is alot better than the impressions… and the mythic is very customizable… think of anything and you can probably find a way to do it. this phone does freeze sometimes but so does the impression so its no big deal. the one thing i hate is unlocking it. you can use the button on nthe screen and hold it down, but it doesnt work half oof the time so i have to re-do it again. there also is a button on the side but you have to hold it down to unlock it. so, it takes forever to unlock… but ill get used to it soon sice i just got this phone. hope this helps!!! please reply back to correct or comment on me!!!
I got both; 1 Mythic for me and 3 Impressions for my wife and teenage daughters. All of them insisted on the real QWERTY keyboard. I wanted the thinner phone. We’ve only had them a month but we are all happy so far.
Anna, look into the smart unlock on your Mythic. It is a pretty cool alternative way to unlock the phone AND automatically run an app at the same time, like browser or message. Menu->Settings->Smart Unlock
I just switched over to at&t and I chose the Mythic while my wife chose the impression. I really like my mythic. But there is one thing that I like more on the impression, I like how the videos look vs mythic. It looks like the videos on the impression is better then mythic. The color on the impression is nice and bright as the mythic’s color is kinda light and pail. And the videos on the impression seems a bit better. Plus, the audio on the impression is louder. I think I’ll still keep my mythic, but I wish the video quality and sound was better.
i’m so confused on weather to get the impression or just keep my mythic! everyone tells me the impression is bad but i liike the looks of it, and i loveeeeee having a keyboard other than the virtual one. i’ve always wanted a phone with touchscreen&qwerty keyboard! help me please!
heyy john, i do use the smart unlock which is very cool, but most of the time it doesnt work. when i draw one thing, it goes to somthing else… which is really weird. that is one downside, but its not important beacause its an extra anyway.
OK SERIOUSLY? THE IMPRESSION DOES NOT FREEZE UP. JUST BECAUSE ONE PERSON GETS A DAMAGED PHONE DOES NOT MEAN THE PHONE SUCKS. WHAT DOES THE MYTHIC HAVE THAT THE IMPRESSION DOES NOT HAVE? NOTHING. THEY ARE BASICALLY THE SAME PHONE, EXCEPT THE IMPRESSION HAS A KEYBOARD. AND IF U LIKE TO TEXT THE KEYBOARD IS A WAY BETTER OPTION THAN THE TOUCH SCREEN. BUT THEN AGAIN IF U LIKE TO TOUCH TEXT, U CAN DO THAT ALSO ON THE IMPRESSION!
Hey where can I find the impression for only $79 with no contract? Thanks
Ech, I’m wondering the same problem , too
I keep tossing back & forth between the Impression & the Mythic. Just when I think I’ve made up my mind I read another review and get confused all over again. I’m not worried about the texting features of either phone so that’s not important to me. My biggest (and most important) concern is call quality. I am leaving a Razr because the call quality sucks … keeps breaking up every other word. I’ve read a few reviews stating the Impression has some call quality flaws but haven’t read much about the Mythic’s call quality. I also want a loud volume especially for the ringer. Can someone please help me choose my phone? I can’t take much more with this Razr and would like to upgrade soon. Thank you in advance.
reading all of these just made me more unsure of which one i want to get! My husband and i got new phones, and he got the mythic, which is pretty cool. I wanted a touch but i really wanted a qwerty too. so i got the xenon which is lame and im exchanging, but i cant decide between the mythic and the impression now! the mythic looks sleek, almost like a smaller slimmer iphone and awesome megapixels on the camera, but lets face it ladies, sometimes its flippin annoying to touch text with nails….any DECISION BREAKING comments?????
okay for all of u confused: they are the same thing except
Mythic-touchscreen keyboard
Impression- both touchscreen and slideout
Mythic- very customizable
Impression- not customizable
those r the only real differences. its up to you.
im so comfused!!!!! i like the full qwerty keyboard on the impression and thats why i want it cause now i have the eternity and i hate that keyboaard!!! and the other day i got on by besties mythic and her touchscreen qwerty keybord was so easy!!! totally different from my eternity!! and the mythic is tinier which helps so i can carry it into school in my pocket while the impression is huge. HELP ME!!!!!!!
Google “Samsung Impression text problems” and you will find hundreds of posts from customers having problems with their cell phone…I am one of them. About 3 or 4 times a day my Impression decides it doesn’t want to send text messages anymore and the only fix is turn the phone off and back on again. Tired of doing this over and over.
What about how one has a flash for the camera and the other doesn’t? I like to take photos and didn’t know if the camera with flash was worth getting the mythic cause i really like the idea of having the actual keyboard on the impression because this will be my first touchscreen phone. Also, when you say that the mythic is more customizable, what do you all mean?
I’m getting the Samsung Mythic, it is a very nice phone. I recommend it to everyone. The Impression sucks, the keyboard is sqished together, and it is hard to type.
My sister has the impression and she loves it. I had the xenon and thought it sucked so I traded it for a mythic. I love it. People always complain to me that the keyboard on the imprseeion is Rly good but I hate it because it is rubbery. The virtual keyboard on the mythic is I think as good as the one on the impression. People complain about the price of the mythic but I got mine for less than my sister got her impression. The mythic owns
My wife has an Impression for 6 months and I have owned mine for 2 months. We both like our phones, the full qwerty keyboard is nice and easy to use. The camera is a 3.0 MP and takes great video and I love that you can add a microSD card up to 16GB for more storage of music and pics. I love the bluetooth interface and the music player. Overall it is a good phone and we paid 58 bucks for the upgrade at Wal-Mart which was much cheaper than the upgrade price on AT&T’s site of 124 bucks. The only problem I have had is once when I deleted all of my old messages, the phone locked up and had to be shut off and turned back on to unlock and finish the process. Great phone for a great price.
I have the mythic and my realitive has the impression. Ive compared both phones. Impression is too bulky unlike mythic. even though it slides open and has a keyboard, I think it doesnt do as much as the mythic.
The mythic has a flash which is really nice because I take a lot of pictures with my phone. My friend’s brother has the impression and the texting is very slow. I personally like to text fast and it doesn’t let you do that.
the choice is yours:)
just switch to verizon and get the samsung rogue…..its way better than both. my gf has the mythic and is about to trade it in for an impression bc there is way too much to it (and the camera is horrible) but other than that i think they are both decent phones but samsung def. puts there better phones on verizons network, which is understandable considering they are the worlds largest network….
My husband and I HAD to have the Impression because we thought we wanted a physical qwerty keyboard..
We got 2 of them this week.. Now we are both finding it is actually easier to type on the virtual qwerty touchscreen.. For him, he is a one fingered typer with arthritis.. Holding Impression with the keyboard open and typing is much harder for him.. For me, I find the qwerty keys set too far apart on the keyboard.. the letter o is way out of the way compared to the virtual display.. And you have to actually push the keys on the qwerty which slows me way down compared to the touch screen version..
The Impression is also much heavier than I expected.. After a short round of texting, surfing or even holding the phone at my ear, I definately know feel the 2 extra oz the mythic doesn’t have..
Second issue.. the lock and camera keys located on the right side of the phone both make the keyboard slide when you use them.. For the locking button, it means you are unlocking while you lock.. for the camera it means the camera shifts and you will get a blurry picture when it happens.. If you own this phone, you will have to learn to hold the keyboard and front part of the phone together to keep it from sliding, while making sure your fingers aren’t in front of the view finder.. I am sure if we keep the phones we will adjust what we do and get used to it.. but since this talks about the good and bad.. I thought it a good issue to mention..
The impression is as Slippery as wet soap in the shower, especially if you attempt to use it one handed.. A rubberized or grippy phone cover is a must in my opinion.. It isn’t just the fear of dropping.. Each time it slips other apps open.. LOL
The good.. It has great sound, calls are clear.. Beautiful video and pictures, youtube etc.. The camera took a decent picture w/out a flash inside at night.. Great that CV lets us see full episodes of CSI for no extra cost, just part of the unlimited data plan..
Still adjusting to the widgets.. I keep bringing up apps when I am trying to move through the list.. That will be the same on each phone I would guess..
Wish the impression would use the headphones we have and not need an adapter to use with the charging jack port..
Mythic is looking pretty good to me about now.. 2 oz Lighter, flash and auto focus, no keyboard sliding issue,
Good luck on your choice..
I had the impression for quite awhile and i had dropped it many many times and just a couple dinks and scratches here and there, but still worked good, the only problem i had with it was it would freeze up sometimes, but other than that it was a good phone! then i dropped it from the top stand of the bleachers at a game, and it was done, so i got the mythic, and ive had it for about 11 days now and i hate it! for one, i miss the full keyboard that the impression had, and for two, the mythic keeps restarting over and over and over, and theres really nothing too the mythic, except for the menu screen(s). i think the impression is much better, do not get the mythic.
started out with the eternity, way better than the impression and mythic in my opinion, anyways, my g/f had the impression, stopped sending text and froze all the time, now me and her have the mythic, its a POS also, only had them for about 2 weeks and both of ours freeze every time you get on the net, have to pull the battery to fix it, the phones aren’t even loaded with a lot of tones or music, practically clean and they freeze, not only that but the apps are pretty dumb also, they need to come up with some iphone type apps. in my opinion at&t is starting to suck on their phones, cheap made junk, pricey but not worth a dime
I just got the Samsung Mythic and its a very good fone to use.Its thinner and when you are at school you can text easier. The only thing about the Impression is that it had a slide-out keyboard which is ok.The virtual keyboard on the Mythic is better to me. I had my phone for a couple of days and i havent got any freezing problems out of it. The Mythic looks way better than an Impression and had more apps and costumizations.I would recommend the mythic because its new and durable. Usually high priced phones are better than low priced. I got my Mythic $150 and a $50 rebate with an 2 year upgrade.
at first i chose the impression but had to go back and replace it with the mythic. the mythic surpasses the impression by far! the lock button! that darn button on the impression is an awful design, if they would have just placed it on the top portion of the phone instead of the sliding keyboard… it would’ve made a world of a difference. the browser on the mythic is so much better than the impression, yes you can probably download one for the impression which i did, but the mythic is just better straight from the box. the impression is way heavier and bulkier! it kept falling off my phone carrier in my car! it put too much weight on the suction and would topple it over… and the worst thing… the impression does not have voice recognition! if you have a speaker phone in your car, forget it! you鈥檒l have to dial your numbers or answer calls thru the dialing pad! watch out drivers! that鈥檚 just my 2 cents!
I have the impression, which I agree is better, but the impression also has its share of freezing too. Sometimes, it will not work at all and you cannot call anybody unless you know their number. It is very heavy, and the locking mechanism sucks but it works. I recommend having 2 batteries fully charged just in case. It also has a nice 3 megapixel camera vs. the Mythic’s 3.2 megapixel, but it’s nice having the keyboard and the less expensive phone!
I am about to get the Impression. My friend has one and I used to call my mom. It had great texting abilities. you can handwrite, use the QWERTY keyboard, use the TOUCH QWERTY keyboard, and TOUCH normal(1234567890 thing). It was easy to use. My friend said that the ONLY thing annoying about it was the freezing. But she can be overdramatic sometimes (hopefully she won’t read this. Hehe
). And lets be honest, how many people haven’t had a phone freeze up? Even my dad’s iPhone does!!!
I have had the Impression for about 3 weeks. It seems like every day it freezes up and wont send the text. so i have to turn it off then back on. another issue is that if i click send to send the message it will go straight back to my inbox and wont send the message!!!
I just got the impression a few months ago and i really liked it. It hasn’t freezed on me(i hope it won’t). I was going to get the mythic but it was too expensive for me i think it doesn’t have many advantages over the impression but it is your choice. If you really like texting ill recomend the impression it has many different ways to text with the full Qwerty key board the touch keyboard and regular touch keyboard this is the phone you should get if you really love texting.
OK, I had a hard time deciding between the Mythic and the Impression… I went with the Mythic. While there are ALOT of cool features, there are a few that really piss me off! The interent being one of them. So slow and most of the time, no ALL the time I get on, “Unexpected Failure”. Come on, I have had it for a month now and they can’t be updating the towers everytime I am on the net. I went back to ATT store and they gave me a replacement saying the other one was defective. But this one does it too all the time. Why pay for interent if I hardly get to use it. The camera is the other disappointing feature. Pictures really suck. My husbands LG neon takes better photos without autofocus and without a flash… seriously. If I could figure out how to get better response from the browser, I would LOVE this phone. Any suggestions?
I had a samsung rogue through verizon but had to switch to AT&T. I got the mythic over the impression/soltice mainly because it was newer, smaller/lighter than the impression, and looked better. The Rogue is way better than any of them though. Much faster, more responsive, better looking screen, no AT&T spam apps and wallpaper that you can’t delete. The web browser seemed better on the rogue and everything just worked better and definitely faster. The camera was so much better too.
I’m debating trading in my mythic for the impression. The mythic is just sloooooooow. And when it comes to customizing you really can’t do anything with it. So many of the AT&T apps cannot be moved or deleted so you are just stuck with whats there. Having 3 home screens is totally pointless and it would make sense that it contributes to the phone being slower. By the time you move to the next home screen to open something you could just hit the widget from the side tab on the first screen. I miss having a real keyboard but I don’t want a phone that weighs 5 pounds.
I have an Impression and the only things I hate about it are sometimes it doesnt like to send texts, which is bad bc i love to text, and its internet is very slow. I like the full keyboard and ive had it for 3 months now and it only has frozen up once. My phone has been dropped several times and it only has one little cut on it; the touch screen still works fine. I would recommend this to anybody.
and the impression isnt THAT heavy. i could care less how heavy the phone is.
Hey, guys. I’m trying to choose between the 2 phones,The Samsung Mythic and The Samsung Impression. I mean, I like how the Impression has the keypad & touchscreen, however, it’s a little too bulky for my taste. I like the Mythic and I think I’m leaning toward the Mythic beacuse the touchscreen is AWESOME and it’s very customizable. I’m actually a fan of virtual keyboards. Well, this is just my opinion. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]
I don’t know about Samsung Impression, but my opinion on Mythic: It sucks. Let me explain.
So I got my hands on Mythic because when I lost my Samsung Eternity, AT&T told me that Samsung Eternity is no longer in production and they are sending me a Samsung Mythic. I was happy at first, since it was suppose to be the newer and better version of Eternity. Boy was I wrong.
First thing I noticed was the slow response of the phone. The menu loads slowly as well as the button press responses. It all seemed sluggish and laggy. It bugged me a bit, but it was a relatively minor issue and I was willing to let it go. But then I noticed something else.
It freezes. A lot.
I have the unlimited data plan for Internet, so often I listen to music and surf the web at the same time. Not a good idea. When using the default browser (*cough* copy of Opera Mini *cough*) and listening to music at the same time, the phone just stops working. I mean it just gives up. When I press “end” button to exit out of the frozen screen, the screen just changes to application ending screen and stays there, frozen. I can lock the screen, but for some stupid reason, I was unable to shut down the phone. My only option then was to pull out the battery and turn it back on.
From then on I have been using Opera Mini. It’s a shame, because I was beginning to actually like the default browser.
It still freezes once in a while (even when I am not websurfing or listening to music) and while most of the freezes are not as terrible as the one mentioned above, it is still irritating.
Oh and for some reason, alarm clock once in awhile confuses the meaning of AM and PM. Sometimes, it just rings away at 5:30 in the morning when clearly it says 5:30 PM on the alarm page.
Oh and to those people who are saying “you might have gotten the bad phone”, well I had this phone replaced for another Mythic because I presumed that it was just a bad unit. Nope. The replacement was bad as the first. My brother also has the Mythic and has the same problems. So in total, I had tried out three Samsung Mythics with same issues. I think that’s statistically significant.
Screw multidesktop, bigger screen, new widgets, and 3.2 MP camara with flash. I’ll take Samsung Eternity back anyday.
I have had the mythic for a week now and love it. my sister has the impression and after looking at it i am glad i got the mythic. the impressions keypad is too spaced out. also the screen resolution is terrible compared to the mythic. the mythic has multiple home screens and menu screens and the impression doesn’t. this makes the mythic more customizable. the mythic also has many more features. the impression has a 3 megapixle camera without flash and the mythic has a 3.2 mp camera with flash. the mythic does have some problems. occasionally when you quickly exit a program it takes forever to close. also while on the internet sometimes an error message pops up randomly saying unexpected failure. this can be very annoying. the mythic has two browsers that both work very well besides that error message. (i am actually typing this message on my phone). this is my first touchscreen phone and i am not having any trouble (except for a few mistakes) with the virtual keypad. also this phone is loaded with cool features that add to the value of the phone.
i highly recomend the mythic over the impression.
from reading all these comments, i prefer the mythic. for those who have the samsung impression… its no point in having it. trade it in for a mythic. my mom had it, and it just crashed. and plus people say its good for recording videos. next year here we go to get the mythic.
I chose the Samsung Impression. At first, I was torn between the two phones, but when I tested them both out, here were the deal-breakers for me:
1. a roomy, comfortable slide out physical keyboard as well as a touch screen keyboard and a handwriting option for those who prefer stlyuses
2. awesome video quality
3. great call quality
4. intuitive menu design
5. IT’S CHEAPER
Personally, I don’t use the internet options on the phone, which I hear is better on the Mythic. My phone hasn’t frozen and I haven’t had many texting issues either. So if you’re not interested in the internet, or making your phone extremely customizable, then go with the Impression.
the impression freezes A LOT!! it sucks… idk about the mythic, but but im switching either way
tired of this freezing, plus recently, out of the nowhere, the screen goes blank and stays that way!! arghh!!!! im so mad right now, i cant see anything at all and will probably have to pay for fixing… so screw it, im getting a mythic
