AT&T Samsung Flight Tutorial- Install Apps/Games

How to install appliactions /games on AT&T Samsung Flight if you don’t have a data plan? Is it possible?

Of course, it is possible. Here is just the tutorial to teach you how do it, just follow the instructions below:

Download Links:

TK File Explorer 2.2: [here] (Used to access the Internal Memory of the phone)
JADGen: [here] (Used to generate .JAD files from .JAR files)

Note; You can also get TKFileExplorer to work with just the USB Modem Drivers if you want standalone drivers (No PC Studio)
USB Modem Drivers: [here] (Used if PC Studio doesn’t load the proper drivers or you just want standalone drivers)

Steps:

1. Download [Download here]and install the PC studio for samsung flight on your PC

2. Now Connect your USB Cable to your phone. Make sure the phone is set to ‘Samsung PC Studio’.
(Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Select USB Mode -> Samsung PC Studio)
Let the drivers install.
3. Once finished you might have to restart PC Studio as well as your phone to detect properly (while still connected). Once detected it should say ‘ Samsung Flight Connected’.

TKFileexplorer will not work with the SGH-A797 (FLIGHT). Not in my case. New PC Studio works fine, but access to the game and app folder remains blocked out.

    Anybody get this to work?

I can connect with New PC Studio also, but I can’t get TK File Explorer 2.2 to connect.

I have tried the following steps because I saw a post that said that this should work:

    1. Power down phone
    2. Turn on phone
    3. While AT&T loading bar shows connect the USB cable
    4. After AT&T loading bar has completed, connect USB cable
    5. Open TK File Explorer
    6. Select Port from list

However, when I go to the drop down for the Port there is nothing there. I have tried manually typing in COM5, 10, 4. Nothing changes.

I get the error “Warning: Unable to open the specified port. Please try again.”

    Any help with this?

I cannot download the new PC studio from this page. It doesn’t allow you to click on the “download here” link. I am trying to get a PC studio that will work with my flight. The PC Studio I currently have which is PC STudio 3, wont connect with my flight. Any suggestions?

Studio 3 wont work with flight. You need “New PC Studio”.

And of course, still no answers for connecting the Flight with TKEexplorer.

Agree that TKE doesn’t work with the Flight – when I select the COM port that my phone is on, the program crashes. As far as how to connect – you need a Samsung data cable. I coudln’t connect at all with an LG micro-usb cable, and everything I read says that Samsung forces you to get their “chipped” cable. $12 on eBay. $20 from Samsung.

I have not tested connecting with a Samsung USB cable but instead used a blackberry mini usb. I have had no luck on Vista 32-bit, Windows XP, or Ubuntu 9.04. It will connect briefly with XP but then just says connection lost. Is the flight not supported? I know this post is just a copy from the solstice page but I believe the process must be a little different. Can anyone confirm that they have successfully connected to TKFE using one of the above OS’s? Any help is appreciated.

I have had the best results using new pc studio 1.2.1H1. I am waiting for the new samsung data cable to come in to try and connect with the phone. Using a blackberry cord I was able to connect but only momentarily.

easy way to find your com connection is to go into device manager and look under modem right click your phone and bring up properties, should say the com number in there, but ive had the same crashing problem when trying to connect to tk.

I got TKE File Explorer to recognize the phone on Vista, but I was unable to explore the phone. There’s got to be another file explorer program that let’s you do similar things. I’m doing to do some research.

Ben, did you find anything? Been struggling to do this as well. My scenario… With PC Studio V1.4.0, my phone connects. I can browse it. Games folder on the internal memory is blocked out. Copying new games to the /other folder works, but games will not run. Using TKFileExplorer, I can’t access the phone. The data cable works because I can browse the phone in PC Studio. There’s no posts here besides yours since Feb, so I hope people are still trying to do this. Can u help me?

Bryan, I’ve downloaded the new version of PC studio that was on the Samsung website along with the new driver. My platform (Vista 64) is giving me this error message when I try to install the driver: The specified service has been marked for deletion.

I’ve downloaded the new Samsung PC studio and got the driver to download, but somehow I deleted my phone in the list of devices in Studio. How do i put it back in there?

I think it’s fair to say that this post is now toast
Try the above at your own risk, kiddies

It loaded drivers and the phone could be accessed via New PC Studio. The games folder does not even show up. TKFileManager crashes when I enter COM4, which is the port reported by a Port Monitoring app I downloaded.

Bluetooth adapter should be here tomorrow. I will try it that way.

I have an older Samsung phone from ATT. It was Cingular back then. They had disabled features on that one, too. Very frustrating.
