AT&T Quickfire Reviews

The AT&T Quickfire now has been on sale for $99.99 after a two-year agreement and mail-in rebate.New At&T Cell Phones-AT&T Quickfire is much like the prior T-Mobile Sidekick in model聽 ,but the quickfire does not support twirled screen. While the handset is very similar to the current popular T-Mobile G1, after all, its all-sliding keyboard, as well as appearance with T-Mobile G1 has a lot of similarities.
The AT&T Quickfire is a touch-screen phone,it has a 2.8 inches display ,260,000 colors QVGA (240 脳 320 pixels)聽 And the Quickfire’s screen can slip out of the fuselage as T-Mobile G1, exposing its full QWERTY keyboard.Meanwhile it also is designed with hang-up-call key, as well as the function keys in the side of the keyboard.

Of course, as a new brand of AT & T mobile phone, The AT&T Quickfire network function is very comprehensive. It doesn’t only support the traditional full-frequency (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM network, but also could work up in the tri-band UMTS (850/1900 / 2100MHz) network.supporting high-speed data transmission technology. At the same time, this built-in cell phone offers A2DP stereo Bluetooth. The friends who like to listen to the music could easily swap music resources. The Quickfire also has GPS (A-GPS technology support), supporting e-mail platform of POP3.
The AT&T Quickfire has built-in 29MB of memory, although the fuselage looks slightly shabby, but it supports microSD (T-Flash) memory card expansion. The AT&T Quickfire comes with a capacity of 1200mAh battery, and can support up to 12.5 days’s standby time, as well as it also offers 3 hours of talk time.In Multimedia, the AT&T Quickfire is聽 more conventional,it includes media player, a 1.3mp camera.
Now the聽AT&T Quickfire is available in green, orange and silver three colors for聽 user to choose.Although this device has cool appearance,it is truly a low level model. While it is ordinary in performance, its handsome appearance would be a good selling point.

Don’t buy this phone, touch screen doesn’t work and the full charged battery didn’t even last 8 hours. I’m taking it back today and it sucks that I have to pay a restocking fee for a piece of crap that didn’t work from the beginning. Also if you use gmail forget checking emails from this phone-it doesn’t support it. Save your money and GET SOMETHING ELSE!!!!

What does “not support rotation screen” mean?

  3. admin
    November 12th, 2008 | 1:15 am

It means that you can’t rotate the screen in any direction.

Taryn, I got the 3 days ago and I love it. Bluetooth file transfer profile is not support by this phone, but you can transfer ring tones to the sd card and move it over. No big deal.

Hey i just got the phone today, the touchscreen i think will take a lot of getting used to… but overall it’s pretty neat so far. I was wondering if anyone knew how to stop the annoying BEEP noise everytime i click something without turning it on vibrate or silent.

I got this phone yesterday… I really like it. Having some problems with the touch screen. Having to hit the keys hard to get them to work, but other than that really great. My battery works wonderful, charged it at 1pm yesterday when i got home from teh store for one hour and 24 hours later i’m only down one bar… the keyboard is great… so far so good

I think many are in agreement when I say the touchscreen is the downfall with this phone. I love the QWERTY keyboard, but it’s just not worth dealing with the touchscreen. It’s consistently unresponsive and it almost forces you to basically navigate everything from the qwerty keyboard. Don’t fall for the nice looking interface, go for something else.

    November 19th, 2008 | 10:25 pm

QWERTY keyboard is great, but the touchscreen is unresponsive and can’t hit many things. On mine, the send message button… so I cannot respond to any texts, or send anything. I’m going to return it and get a Blackjack…

ALso, the camera is very bad quality

THIS PHONE IS SO DUMB! I really highly dislike it. After having a Motorola V3x razor which had everything and was top of the line I feel like I really downgraded. I’m giving it a week then returning it. I would rather go back to a flip phone then mess with a touch screen that doesn’t even work. The QWERTY keyboard is okay but might as well just get a rumor.

I was thinking about gettin the Quickfire and when i went into the ATT store to try and test it the store clark said that the touch screen needs to be hit softly. If u hit it hard it won’t respond.

I love this phone! It serves its purpose for me well: texting. Yes, the camera is pretty bad, but in the sunlight it looks much better in my honest opinion. The touchscreen is pretty easy once you get used to it and I loooove the voice recognition, I don’t have to set up anything! <3

Only con is the camera. :/ Can’t have everything.

I’ve read so many things about people having issues with the touch screen.. I’ve had this since the 11th, and I haven’t had any issue. You barely have to touch it to get it to respond and take you were you need to go. As for the camera, it’s 1.3 mega pixel– you know it’s not the best out there, however, I’ve had 1.3 for a while since I had a Duo. You can take good pictures, you just have to mess with the lighting a bit and hold still. For good pictures I don’t rely on a phone, I have a quality digital camera.

I just had a question for any girl that reads this…. Can the phone fit in a normal sized girls jean pocket without falling out?? Im hoping i get this phone for my birthday and that i my biggest concern about it. If you can answer my question that would be awsome!!!

    Thank you !!!!!!!

I want this phone so bad! D:
But everyone is saying quite a lot of bad things about it…
It’s hard to know who to trust. :( I wanted a QWERTY keyboard phone, and this one seems to have an amazing keyboard, but the touch screen seems to be causing a lot of complaints. Also, the battery, camera, and blue tooth capabilities all seem to be… not top of the line. I’m a texter, so a great keyboard is what I’m primarily looking for, the touch screen is just a very nice bonus. If the quickfire really isn’t good, what would you recommend?

  27. Ariel
    December 4th, 2008 | 5:52 pm

Touch screen is really NOT that bad. You HAVE to use the PAD of your finger, not the tip or the nail. The touch screen is calibrated for the pad of your fingers so a pen or something like that does not work either. I’ve found thumbs work the best. You also HAVE to hit the touch screen softly, too much pressure makes it totally unresponsive.

For navagating those little buttons/targets it’s best to hold your finger down for a moment that why it highlights and you know what you are selecting. I haven’t had any problems.

The only thing I dislike about this phone is that is doesn’t support gmail, you cannot easily sync with a PC (no usb), and the usual at&t making it a pain to get ringtones without buying them from silly media mall, but thats applied to all their phones.

    **Specifics:

Qwerty: Haven’t had any problem with keys being small, they are easy to hit and find. Unlike my other phones this one it’s more erganomic and secure in your hand when you are texting. I’ve had some sliders and flips jump out of my hands cause they were top heavy or the keys were too low. Green might not be so good for people that are color blind though.. they put function keys in orange on dark green keys. So anyone that is red-green color blind might have a hard time finding the right key.

OS: It can be a little hard to find some of the less used functions like phone settings, but it’s set-up for quick use of the more popular features. Such as the phonebook, texting, IM, and mp3 player. There are several layouts for your home screen with different button sizes and locations.

Appearence: It’s nice looking. The screen is bright and easy to read. I enjoy it open or close. Very proportioned and more light weight than I expected.

Calls: Reception is much better than my last phone, the touch screen locks once a call contects, is easy to unlock, but doesn’t accidently unlock from your cheek! The only thing I’ve had a time with is hanging up. You have to unlock then end call. A little hard when you are new to the phone and driving. Yeah I’m that person, but don’t worry I’m in Alaska… far away from you.

Camera: Yeah pictures are not so great quality wise, but it’s easy to get to for that quick shot. When you hold it up it feels much like a camera, the shutter key is in the same spot as a traditional camera, but the lens is offset to the side of the phone so it’s easy to accidently cover with a finger. Best to shoot pictures in your right hand. Not very friendly for leftys in that aspect. To launch the camera you just have to unlock and hold down the shutter key for a couple seconds and bam ready to go!

All in all great messageing phone. Not for you if you are looking for a smart phone. I got this phone cause I wanted music, texting, IM, and calling and that’s about what you get. Not too much fancy stuff, but enough features to hold up. If you arn’t the type to need mobile windows this is a great phone. You get better battery life then the average smartphone and as much storage as an iphone with the purchase of a 8gig SD card. I got my card for $50 and it came with some adaptors to to go into a PC card slot or a usb slot. Synced with my old headset very easily.

Thumbs up, was worth the price and retail here was $320, but I paid $175 by signing back on my contact again.

Hey, I got this phone yesterday and am already having problems with the touch screen. The edges don’t seem to work when the QWERTY keyboard is out. I can’t text, which obviously ruins teh purepose of having a full keyboard. I think it might be my specific phone and not the model, as i have two friends who have had no problems with the screen. Bottom line, i’m taking it back to the store tomorrow and seeing if they will exchange it for a new one, if not, i’ll have to find some other old phone that’s laying around the house.

I purchased this phone for my tween daughter. She loves it. I am old and could careless about texting but if that’s your thing then you will be pleased. I did put a screen protector on it. She has not said anything but good things about her phone.

I haven’t purchased the cards/usb yet but that is what I am getting her for xmas will repost and let you know how that goes. :)

Being an adult that is before the text generation I am lost and confused when I look at it. hahahahahhaa.

    This phone is amazing.
Simply amazing, I’m a texter, sending about 700 texts a day (thank god for unlimited texting!) and let me tell you, this phone is perfect for it.

I’ve had no problems about the touchscreen, it’s the same as my parents iPhone, no problem at all.

But one thing has been bothering, I’m pretty sure it’s about the setting, I just can’t find it though.

The send key (the green phone button) whenever I click it in the idle mode (the screen where it shows the time, the menu, and others) it doesn’t work. When I got the phone, whenever i clicked the send key in idle mode, it went to the all calls list. (calls you made, received, etc.)

Please help me. I’ve been trying to fix it for a couple of days now..

Ok so Ive had this phone for like three weeks now and I totally loved it. I had been reading all those complaints about the touch screen and I had no idea what those people were talking about because I thought it worked just great, but yesterday I was texting all day which I usually do and all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working like it used to. I can no longer send or reply to any texts because the send key won’t respond and I’ve tried touching it with different pressures and with my pad of my fingers, and it just won’t work. Most of the icons don’t respond anymore and it’s very frustrating.

I liked this phone when I got it, and I only got it dec. 7 and i have had a few problems with the phone! a few weeks ago my phone started not vibrating when i received a text so i had no idea when i would get a text! and then there has been a black spot grow on my screen! I am the most careful person with phones and i haven’t dropped it or hit it or anything! I called for support and they wanted to make me pay for another one at full price and then I asked if they could just take that phone and give me the money back so I could get another one and they said no!!!!! So I am stuck with this defulty phone! If you were thinking about getting the quickfire I wouldn’t waste my money on this phone! The touch screen is very difficult to use!!! Any phone is better than the quickfire! Plus they dont hold true to the warranty on the phone!!!!!!!

We purchased the Quickfire at the end of Dec. When we first purchased the Quickfire it seemed the phones worked fine. It has been a month and a half and have several issues. It started when trying to have the pics go straight to the memory card. It would always say error after taking a pic. Changed back to save to the phone. When manually saving the pic to the memory card it still says error but the pic is saved anyway. Then we started getting dropped calls. I had a cheap go phone with my regular sim card that did not drop this many calls. I also have a wall charger that when you plug it into the phone it says USB attatched. Will not charge. Had to get a new wall charger. There have been times when using the touch screen and touch one thing and something else comes on the screen. One great feature is the full keyboard. If you are a texter then this is a good phone for that. I like the phone but have had too many issues with it.

    February 17th, 2009 | 10:10 pm

Okay. To all complaining about the touch screen:

The screen on this is made like the iPhone’s. The reason your nail, a stylus, or the tip of your finger do not work is that the screen responds to the electrons held I. Your fingers. This is why the pad of your finger is best, and why light touches should be used. There needs to be room for the electrons of the screen and those of your fnger to bond or the response will NOT happen.

    Hope I helped!

    Hey,

I’ve had the quickfire for just under three months now and I have never dropped it, haven’t scratched the screen, its got no water damage, NOTHING. Its been working fine but all of a sudden tonight I flipped it open and the screen decided to go completely pixilated and won’t change screens. Soooo I can’t see anything on the screen but the buttons work…I just can’t see what screen I’m on at all.

    Any thoughts?

haa..i got this phone in january after many problems with my pantech duo as far as them replacing the phone after THEY broke it..but i knew i didnt want a touch screen because i like to text and buttons work best for texting..but i HATED the touch screen right away, the phone gets soooo slow as far as telling you if it has sent/recieved a message and stuff whenever i have just 80 texts? the touch screen doesnt work 99% of the time and even though it says a message has sent..IT NEVER SEEMS TO! this phone is a beast and is just to big for pockets, purses, car holder things, etc. most the time my alarms wont go off which is not good considering i already have narcolepsy and waking up is hard enough to do..and about 20 days after having my first one i went to the store to have them fix the not sending/recieving issue and the girl just went to the back and grabbed me a brand new one because theres supposedly a defective batch out there? But anyways..at first it was working pretty well..then a week later (i didnt drop or hit or damage the phone that week. cross my heart ! even this peice of shit is my babbyy) the phone just decided to stop working and began freezing, touch screen NEVER works..evern and just soooo many other things are wrong. i dont even know where to begin..moral of this story
    DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.
IT FREEZES, BAD TOUCH SCREEN, UNRELIABLE REMINDERS, HUGEEE, SLOW, USELESS AS FAR AS TEXTING, NOTHING SENDS/RECIVED
i just want a completely different phone. with buttons, no touch screen, a well known and reliable brand and the ability to communicate with others ! is there any way to just trade in all together for a different kind of phone? because i dont want to go back every 20 some days for a new one ! ugh !

So i have had this phone for a few months now… and its alright. but has anyone noticed how it has a small memory, even with a memory card it will only hold about 200 text and like 50 pictures…. and when your text start getting full it skips over texts and gets slow… i bought a phone cover for it and it broke on the top and i didn’t even drop it so i went and got a new cover and that one broke too! so i went in yet AGAIN and they told me they don’t have any because they don’t sell the Quick fire anymore when yet its brand new almost. When taking pictures the mega pixle is small so you have to hold very still to take a decent picture. And when you are in the middle of something and you get a text and press ignore the ringtone keeps going till its over and its annoying. When you put it on vibrate the text don’t go off. The alarms don’t always work. The touch screen is a pain in the but… but i’ve noticed if you push lightly it works better but when im trying to push contacts when im texting it will press send… It seems to push other buttons i didn’t push a lot… and the battery only last like half a day… im not too happy about this phone.

Got this phone in Nov. Completely shut down. Started with the touch screen, now the screen is black except a small space at the top. Im stuck with this broken phone with no support and a long contract. It might be a mid level phone but it was not free and I had to pay for it. I can’t even dial 911 on this phone… completely useless. I feel ripped off. Went in to my local att store and the sales guy Dennis in orlando fl was a big jerk. Have been a customer of this company for over 10 years and I’m looking for a way out. Very disappointed in this phone and this company. Don’t buy a phone from a company that doesnt stand behind what it sales. And PLEASE don’t watse your money on this phone.

THIS PHONES TOUCH SCREEN IS TERRIBLE! its veeery frustrating to use and sometimes when i take videos and i want to save them i press the save button and it deletes it. if u press one button sometimes other buttons respond. DON’T GET THIS PHONE!!!!!!! THERE ARE BETTER ATT PHONES OUT THERE!!!

Ok. I got this phone because it looked nice and worked… AT THE STORE. I started having troubles with the phone about 20 days later. The touch screen responding incorrectly, shutting itself off, and the screen completely freezing. Called the customer service line and got them to send me a new phone. IT’S EVEN WORSE. My warranty is up and I don’t know what to do.

To anyone looking for a new phone: Do NOT buy a QuickFire!!! I bought this phone after reading good and bad reviews. But mostly good. Ok, well take a look around. There are NOOOO good reviews out there anymore. Everybody has the same thing to say, and it is that THIS PHONE IS AWFUL. Take a hint and don’t buy one. AT&T really messed up with this one and I can’t believe I’m stuck with this terrible phone. I like my ancient, rectangular, no camera Nokia phone better. And that’s really saying something.

NEVER EVER GET THIS PHONE, i thought it was amazing for about a week. then it just started getting worse, the first time it was stolen then i get another quickfire. i had problems with it almost as soon as i got it. the screen came out reversed and the color got all messed up. since they discontinued the quickfire, i had an choice between the pantech matrix, the vu, and the propel. (via insurance)

I have had this phone since it first came out, just got it at christmas time. This phone is a piece of crap and constantly glitches, the touchscreen rarely works properly, You know what a tv screen looks like when it looses signal (gets all fuzzy)thats what my phone constantly does, it does not list your missed calls and sometimes I wont even get phone calls. This phone really was not worth all the money I spent on.

I bought the quickfire December 24. Right off the bat I was having problems with it. The touch screen would not activate when I touched it, if I touched the screen in the upper right hand corner the button in the lower left hand corner would pop up that application. It is very irritating. Also when I want to reply to a text message I will hit reply which is in the lower left hand corner and the “delete” button will be activated. I will hit “no” so I don’t delete the message but it will continue to do this. I am getting so fed up with this phone it is unbelievable. A couple of my friends received the phone after I had and they also had problems with it. My one friend got his phone replaced with a different phone. But when I called to tell them what is wrong with my phone, they asked me all of the usual questions “was the phone dropped, what is the color of the x’s on the rectangle under the SIM card…” I then had to do a master reset on my phone. After I did that, wow it worked fast. But not 45 minutes after that my phone went back to doing the same thing. I called AT&T again and they said the only thing they could do was send me another quickfire. Which is ridiculous because my friend had received a different phone only a month ago. I am completely unsatisfied with this phone. DO NOT BUY THE QUICKFIRE!!! It is probably the worst performing phone I have ever had in my life. I am also very angry with AT&T that did nothing but read from their scripts instead of fixing the problem.

Comming over from T-Mobile, using their purple Nokia Xpress Music 5300 (which I LOVE),

I got my orange Quickfire mid December 2008, the week before Christmas as a gift from my mom. I’ve had it almost six months now, I’m on my second warranty replacement, and I can honestly say, I wish my mom had chosen another phone for me. There was no way for her to know that it would have issues, etc. have not had any issues with my charger or phone overheating like everyone else did…I can see the arrow on the charger plug and didn’t plug the damn thing in wrong…but I am being sent a new charger anyway. I asked for another phone since I heard a lot of customers were sent replacement phones other than the Quickfire…

    Pro’s:
    -Large, backlit screen
-Great for texting, which I do a lot of since I my mom got me unlimited text.
-Solid slider design, no problems with it comming apart, etc.
-My battery life is great, i’ve had my phone off the charger using it as much as I would a home phone, and it lasts and lasts.

    Con’s:
-No ways to add new themes, just the same blue and Grey…
-Can’t assign ringers for phonebook entries unless they are saved to the phone, not sim.
-Volume on the highhest setting isn’t very loud.
-It didn’t come with a USB, or driver software for the USB, and once I did get one, drivers were installed and the Quickfire still didn’t show up on my pc.
-Touch screen is mostly unresponsive, depending on the temp of my hands, and it does not respond to a stylus…
-Sadly, with the exception of custom ringers and wallpapers, there is not a lot of room for customization on the Quickfire…
-My phone randomly turns off anytime it feels like it…

I have had the quickfire since december, as a christmas present. The camera is just fine, but the touch screen can be unresponsive sometimes. Otherwise I absolutely love it. When the touch screen does not respond all I have to do is push the end call button, close the screen then reopen it. Other than that I have had no problems. The screen works most of the time, just wont respond once or twice a week. It is the perfect texting phone and the keyboard is amazing.

I’ve had my quickfire since january. Loved it and had NO problems, till now. The touchscreen is starting to be unresponsive. It will also recognize as another number has been touched, or none at all. I know I’m not being too hard on my touches. Sometimes it takes SO long to finally get a correct number dialed in!!! And, i know I’m old asking this after having it so long, but why can’t I pair up with someone’s phone? My son has the Pantech Matrix, has a bunch of cute stuff he;s gotten from friends, but I;m stranded. I am seriously starting to question this phone… HELP

    why not upgrade one?

  90. Taylor
    July 29th, 2009 | 11:17 am

I used to have the pantech duo, then I got pushed into a lake with it in my pocket still. I loved it a lot, regardless of the fact that it broke several times and I think I ended up getting 4 or 5 new ones. Instead of getting an insurance replacement, I borrowed my brother’s upgrade opportunity and ordered the Quickfire. After reading so many bad reviews, I’m starting to rethink that decision. Is it really that bad? Can anyone compare it to the Pantech Duo? Should I have just gone for the matrix? I am a very clumsy person and am apt to drop this phone. A lot. Especially because it is so bulky.

Did I make a bad decision? Is this version of the Quickfire updated at all since the recall?

If I did make a mistake, what phone do you recommend if I end up returning the Quickfire? Would I like the matrix more than the duo? Does it have less bugs?

I just got this phone, I think it’s pretty rad so far. I read the manual and everything but I can’t figure out my problem. I bought my phone in Jan of this year. I loved it and had no issues at all till now. The cameral always seemed to take too long to start up and to snap the picture but that was just a minor complaint. Now the touchscreen does not work well at all. I know I am touching it correctly (as I have been doing for the first 8 months) but it does not respond or is very slow to move. If I press the number 1, the pound side will appear or if I press a name on the top of the contact list, a name at the bottom will be highlighted. At this point, I am reverting to my QWERTY keys and trying not to use the touchscreen at all, but most of the menus are directed with the touchscreen. It is very frustrating.

I got this phone when it first went on the market. I loved the look, thought it would be a great phone…boy was i wrong. This phone has caused me so much trouble. The bulkiness, short battery life, etc didn’t bother me at all, but after a month of owning it the touchscreen stopped working. I couldn’t text, play music, take a pic, I couldn’t do anything except answer the phone. I called att they sent me to their store (to confirm I wasn’t lying about the “no damage to the phone” claim) then the store clerks informed me I can only exchange the quickfire with the propel. What!! I was insulted, not bc the propel was horrible or a bad phone but because it was not at all the kind of phone I would buy. So I got the quickfire…again. Then guess what? The touch screen broke…again. Now I’ve gone through all the same steps as the first time, called at&t, went to the store and found out that in order to get another model (according to the warranty which states you have to have the same model replaced three times to get a new phone)i have to pay full price for it. Grrr! If at&t knows the quickfire is a bad phone, knows their customers are having problems with it then why the H E double hockey sticks can’t they give us a similar phone or same priced phone as a replacement! If i cannot get this problem solved soon, i am leaving att.

I’ve had this phone for a while now, and I really love it; the touch screen did take some getting used to, and when the phone turns off then on again it is unresponsive for the first 2 minutes, but other than that and the camera quality all is good, except the thing i’m having the most trouble with right now:
The vibrate function won’t work anymore. At all. Even when I set the ‘call alert type’ to ring & vibrate, it will only ring. It stopped vibrating for text messages a long time ago. What should I do? Should I just get a new phone?

Given these conditions, will the quickfire still be worth getting?

This phone is awful. You will really like this phone at first, I did. But when the touch screen stops working and the phone shuts off and on all by itself it’s very frustrating. The touch screen has just stopped working, I can’t even get into my text inbox which is why I got this phone in the first place because I thought it would be easier for texting. Oh and I’ve had this phone less than a year and I first noticed it was having trouble with the touch screen after only a couple of months.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! I warn you, absolutely do not buy this phone not only is the touch screen a useless piece of crap, there are many other problems with this phone. I got mine in September, the first time it messed up was in February. It completely quit vibrating, not for texts or calls. Then it quit ringing, absolute silence for texts and calls. So I called it into the company because my warranty was nowhere near being up, and I would have to pay full price for an upgraded phone. They sent me a replacement Quickfire. Less than a month later the screen on my replacement shorted out, the keys on the keypad would type multiple letters if I only hit one key, and the phone would shut off after five minutes of use. Another call in, and of course, ANOTHER replacement. The final try. I got this replacement and literally 4 days after recieving it, the screen began to freeze up and the only way to get it to work again was to turn the phone off and then back on. Finally after three tries with this stupid phone and a lot of arguing with AT&T they agreed to send me a completely different phone. I am happy to be rid of this piece of garbage, and if I had it to do over, I would have never gotten this phone, it was more trouble than it was worth.
