If anyone know about the following referring to AT&t please respond; their “best practices”, the cost to put these in action, and the time it will take.

download link is broken, IE returns “nothing found for download 8″
I’m sorry, but it can be download now!
The link for the drivers for all phones doesn’t work, when I tried it it said it couldn’t find it.
It’s Here” master usb driver for cell phones “
I know that and when I click it a link pops up saying windows can’t find it. The window that pops up says this : Windows cannot find”http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=57426&Ext=rar” then it says Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click start, and then Search. I don’t know why it says that b/c you don’t have to type in anything all you have to do is click a link. That’s what pops up when I try to download it.
Did anyone get this to work? I downloaded it and also a utility to extract the .rar file. I did the install but my computer still won’t recognize a driver for my Pantech Matrix.
I have also downloaded the driver and installed it, but nothing is happening when I plug in my phone. I just bought a 4GB card and the cable, it’s killing me that I can’t use it since I can’t seem to find the correct driver.
If anyone finds a solution PLEASE post!!!
Same problem – downloaded, extracted, browsed to the folder, but nothing is recognized. Driving me nuts. No info on Pantech site (and no response to my email). Is this even possible? Why would they sell a data cable if there’s no way to connect?
I called Pantech support and got an answer. If all you want to do is transfer data from your computer, you really need the driver to the SD memory card, which most likely already on your computer. When you connect the phone to the computer, you will briefly get a choice on the phone display of 1) Music Player or 2) mass storage device. Change it to “mass storage device”.
That’s all I did and Windows Media Player was able to sync to the Pantech phone. It also showed up in Windows Explorer as a drive.
ps. you do need a memory card for it to work.
John C. you solved my problem. Thank you.
I’m changing phones. Does anyone know how to back up phone so I won’t lose ringtones and pictures, etc. I am a novice at this stuff.
I Too Just got a usb cablle from Ebay it wont work said I need to download the driver. where can I get it.. I went to the link on here and downloaded it but cant open it… can some one help I need the right Utility to extract it .. where can I get it ..
Really? But I have checked that there is no problem of the usb driver on here ,I can open and install it.I think you had made a mistake.
Ok well, i got my USB cable today. It didnt come with any CD-ROM or anything. I got it from the dealership guy. He said just to plug it in, and the software will download itself… Well that didn’t happen. I dont have a SD micro.
When i plug in the USB in the phone and the comp, on my phone it says:
For Music Player and Mass storage, it is required to insert external memory card.
Yeah… kinda dumb
Okay, I just got my phone Tuesday and now i can’t connect it to the PC I am running Windows Vista Home Basic and i have downloaded that above and have tried to use Windows Mobile Device Center (doesn’t work) I can’t use Active Sync because of the whole Windows Vista thing, I have a 8GB SD Micro inserted into the phone. Nothing is happening and I don’t know but if so many people are having the same problem than shouldn’t someone look into it? All i want to do is add some music but the Phone doesn’t sync up and my computer just downloads a charging driver, or what is supposed to be a connecting driver. But may i suggest looking into this. I also have the SYNC cable if that wasn’t obvious.
OK, I figured out how you get music and pictures to your phone. Obviously you need the cable and the SD Micro card. From the main menu on the phone, you go into “9 Settings”. From there you into “6 Connectivity”. From there, “2 Select USB Mode”. And then you select “Mass Storage”, and click OK.
Then when you plugin to your PC, it comes up fine and you can use things like Windows Media Player to Sync to it, and the music shows up in “1 ATT Music”, and under that “Music Player”.
All the downloading Driver Detective from the ATT Website is, well.
That worked perfectly!
Followed all instructions and still can’t get it to work. I have the SD micro and appropriate cable. “Mobile Device” appears under the ‘My Computer’ screen but I can’t drag-n-drop, etc. Downloaded ActiveSync fine but it refuses to connect to my Pantech. Sync option under WMP still greyed out, presumably because the phone isn’t connecting. This is getting so friggin annoying. Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~
This is beyond irritating. I’ve been working on this all day. Has this been solved by anyone yet? I also already have the USB cable but can NOT find the software/driver to get it to work. I downloaded the .rar file mentioned above, downloaded the unzip file. This is not working for me.
I also tried the trick to get the phone recognized as a ‘mass storage’ file but that does NOT work for me either. (I have no idea why.) My computer–running XP–will not even recognize the phone unless I check the ‘Ask on connection’ under the ‘Select USB Mode’ under ‘Connectivity’ on ‘Settings’. THEN it says that the phone is “Pantech Cellular Phone USB Modem”. I tried looking for Modem USB on ‘My Computer’ and found some.
Does anyone know if using a Microsoft generic modem USB driver would work for this? Has anyone tried it? I am tempted but don’t want to fry the phone. I’d sooo appreciate any feedback if anyone else has tried such.
Thx….
I am so annoyed with this phone. I called Pantech and they blamed it on the microSD card. So I went out and got another one. What this phone does is DESTROYS the microSD cards. Once you put it in this phone, a computer will no longer read the card. I’ve used several adapters and card readers, and in all cases, the PC will no longer read the card! I’ve tried all the downloads, tried active sync, tried changing the configuration on the phone, tried plugging it in with and without the microSD card inside, tried using the modem driver, tried the PDANet. Plain and simple, if the phone is set to “ask upon connection”, the PC thinks it’s a modem. If the phone is set to “mass storage” or “music player”, the PC does absolutely nothing. Taking the microSD out and putting it in the PC does nothing. The phone destroys the microSD so no computer can ever read it again, and a computer can’t reformat something it can’t even read. I honestly cannot think of anything else to try. I hope someone can figure this out. What use is a phone that can take pictures, if you can’t do anything with the friggin pictures!?!?!?!?
I have downloaded this driver. Now I have no freaking idea about how it works…AND it looks as though it’s only good for 40 days, then you have to pay for it. Why doesn’t Pantech simply provide a disc with their phone? I like this phone but am seriously considering changing, which is going to be a real pain.
Any assistance in how to use this driver I have downloaded would be greatly appreciated.
i have been reading this site for 1 month now- had my phone since feb..
figured i would get a driver with my data cable( which i ordered off of ebay)
it came today- no Fin driver cd…
so i am back on here downloading drivers which cant be opened- or i can open them but they will not work-
and then i find a pantech driver -which downloads this driver detective thing – finds my phone, but i have to pay to upgrade the driver detective to get to the device…
oh and if you want to get your pictures to your computer- go to the picture, hit options go to send- and send it to yourself(your email addy)..
this is what i have been doing for months now- its time consuming, but it works..
can anybody talk me through this if they have actually gotten the driver to work?
Finally got my matrix to play music!
I bought a 2gb sandisk sd card (not an HC one!) for $10 with a reader, put the reader into my computer, and downloaded songs straight to it. (My computer still won’t sync with my phone.) Then I put the micro sd card in my phone. My phone wouldn’t recognize any songs, but when i put the reader back in my computer it now had an “audio” folder so I transferred all the songs to that folder, and now my phone plays music!
I think the key was that I was using an HC card before, which I guess won’t work with the matrix. (That’s what a pantech rep told me, anyway.) Hope this helps!
Thanks DAllen! Your process worked for me. I just got my phnoe to play the music I want it to play (I’m rather new at this stuff). I’m going to try photos next. Now if you have any ideas about how to synch my contacts and calendar, I would be in ecstatic.
Stacey, I just bought an 8gb SDHC card, and it seems to work with the process DAllen described above. I was able to synch the playlist I created for my phone, and all is accessible in the Music Player.
The Matrix is NOT a PDA and does not have a windows based operating sytem It was not designed to snchronize data with your PC and back up ringtones etc. You can transfer pictures from a memory card to your PC.. You can transfer music files from your PC to a memeory card in the Pantech. FYI you can do this without a data cable by placing a memory card in an SD adapter that fits into a PC card reader writer. If yoiu want to use an active sync type application The older Pantech duo or a windows mobile based phone is what you need.
Okay, surfing and found an answer that might help. It helped me. On your phone go to Start, then Settings, then Connections, then Modem Link, make INACTIVE- TA DA- if it is plugged in to your computer it will immediately “see” it. If you are wanting to use as a modem you will need a program such as pdanet but they say you should still leave the modem as inactive. You may also need to uncheck the enable box on usb to pc right above the connections on the menu. Good luck.
Surfer, change your name to NEO because you are the One! How the #@!! does AT&T and Microsoft leave that tidbit out of all of their literature, let alone the manufacturer???? It鈥檚 3am and I鈥檝e been working on this 5 hours, I feel terrible for all the other folks who spent months鈥. also I think it鈥檚 true about frying the HC version of SC micro, I should have paid heed when I saw the warning on PNY鈥檚 box when I bought it, but it鈥檚 only 10 bucks lost.
Corrections to my last post… the advice to set the modem link to inactive is on page 164 of the user guide; and my SD HC card still works in my phone, just not via the adapter in my PC (maybe because the PC is 3 years old)
But still have a problem… everything except contacts are able to sync via activesync (music, msword files, email from my pc’s outlook inbox and other folders, etc.) – which is frustrating because that one feature was most important to me
If anyone’s still reading this thread, Surfer is the MAN. His advice also works perfectly with Pantech Matrix Pro as well.
Regarding the syncML /Autosync option to sync with computer, Pantech matrix is not capable of doing that stuff. I asked the support person
“In advertisement I saw it can hold 1000 contacts”
“yes”
“What are the way to enter 1000 contacts?”
“Manually enter it”
“What? This 1000 contacts will be of any use without syncing? I had it in my Nokia candy bar phone some 3 years ago.People who thought about 1000 contacts dint think of it?”
“unfortunately this phone doesnt have it”
“3G phone without syncing!!! I will never buy Pantech again”
Surfer’s solution worked like a charm for me to setup with Pantech Matrix Pro. Kudos and thanks a ton!!
i have windows vista
IF if worked for anyone its because they have the pantech matrix pro. The pantech matrix cant connect with windows media player beause it does not have that software in it and so the media player wont sync up with it no matter what. I also have the pantech matrix and this pissed me off when i found out. If you want to check it out for urself u can check the Pantechusa.com website and compare whats in the pantech matrix pro and the pantech matrix.
inserten el disco que viene con el celular en la computadora e instalen el windows mobil device center desde el cd a la compu y luego conecten el celular a la compu y va a trabajar
this link still wont work! i used internet explorer and it shows me an error page!
ok i did the mass storage thing and now when i plug in my phone into my computer (windows vista) simply nothing happens. my phone says that its charging and the only thing that comes up on the computer is a button to disconnect it. i only want to put music on my phone.
Guys to do this
1.) you need a micro sd card
2.) data cable(of course)
3.) You plug it in and to put data on it you go to (settings-9, connectivity-6, select usb mode-2,And then hit what you want it to do)
4.)When you bring it up it should be under “removable disk __) __= whatever removable disk it is in ( mine is in “removable disk G”
Hope this helps
All I want to know is how to move the text messages I have not deleted on my Pantech Matrix to my computer. I have a USB cable. Is there no one else with this problem? I truly hate this phone and wish I had picked another one.
I am trying to download a usb driver for the pantech matrix but it says I need to be a registered user. I cannot find anywhere to register.
How do I register at this site?
I also truly HATE this phone. Infact I hate it so much I had to upgrade to a new phone, the LG Xenon. I love the Xenon. It is WAY no BY FAR no BY A LANDSLIDE better than the Pantech Matrix.
I am trying to download a usb driver for the pantech matrix but it says I need to be a registered user. I cannot find anywhere to register.
Hi! I just bought an usb cable for the pantech matrix cell phone but apparently I need drivers for it. I’m trying to download the usb driver for pantech cell phone in this page but I dont know where I have to register. Please help !!!! Thanks!!
I struggled like everyone trying to find software to sync my son’s Pantech Matrix to Windows Media Player (or just get it recognized by my PC for that matter) and like all of you……nothing out here in Internet land. I did have an idea and tried it tonight…..loaded the memory card out of the phone (need an adapter for the mini SD) directly with Windows Explorer drag-n-drop for the songs I wanted. Got a few albums on it, used the Music Player feature (had to put the card in twice to get the phone to make contact and recognize it, but once done A-OK) and played the WMA files no problem. Still can’t sync with the USB cable I bought, but my kid has music! If this is all you need it should work for you. Not sure if you can do the same with other info/files though. Happy searching and if ANYONE finds a software that lets us sync, please post it.
how dfo you download the driver?
i’ve been using bluetooth to send all media files to and from my phone. i have a bluetooth USB adaptor. 4 gb sdhc card on my matrix. so excited to have easier way to transfer media, apparently false hopes. it says i cant download the file unless i’m a registered member.
Thanks.
