Lots of luck with this phone. It comes so close to being good, but not close enough to be usable. Holds lots of music, but not enough volume to listen to it. No headphone jack that I can find, and not one listed in the manual. GPS (Navigator) tells me to press the talk button to enter a location, but there’s no talk button. And have I mentioned how awkward the camera is?? Buy it 3 generations from now when they work out the bugs.
I have the pantech impact. I really like it. the keypad is great for me. i like it better than the BBerry keypads. The camera is kind of in a spot where ur finger blocks it everytime to try to take a picture. I wish the calendar was more updated. I used to have a Nokia phone that had an awesome calendar where u can book and set schedules, tasks, birthdays.. not just for that date but in advance..it’s really neat. I hope in the future the impact will improve in some parts of it. over all, it’s a great cool looking phone.
For my first cell phone, my daughter who lives in another city, chose the Pantech Impact. Needless to say I must depend on the Impact’s manual and assistance from friends for instructions.
Unfortunately, I find the manual to be lacking in information on some features and incorrect on others. Also, as stated by others, it is very difficult taking pictures with the Impact due to the ridiculous placement of the camera lens. (The lens is located on the back edge where you would hold the cell to take a picture.) My Impact tends to freeze, mainly when I use the external keyboard, causing the external and internal keyboards to be unusable for a few minutes. The volume at its highest setting continues to be somewhat low.
Other than the above, the Impact is a solidly constructed cell phone filled with more features than I will ever need. Texting can be performed with the internal as well as the external keyboard. My first experience texting was easy due to the ample size of its internal keyboard. Pictures taken with the Impact are clear and the colors vibrant. Calls, although the volume is lower than I would like, are clear. There is a speaker which I sometimes use.
The Impact is not what I would have chosen as my first cell phone, however it serves its purpose, and I enjoy using it to discover and learn cell phones’ features.
I have had my Impact for about 6mnths, and I have to say I don’t really have to many complaints. Yes the camera is awkward to us, but as for anything else it has been a good phone. Just takes a little while to get used to but once you get it, it’s really nice.
I don’t have too many complaints about this Impact. I love the keyboard on the inside, its the main reason I chose this phone. I do agree with the camera, its not easy taking pictures without your finger in it. But when you can do it, its a nice looking picture. I don’t like how you can’t set up your alarms with WHAT you are setting it for. All you can do is set the time and days and not say what its for. You also can’t check your battery level status. At least not that I have found, I’m in search online now for it. As for the first comment, the headphone jack is with the charging connection at the top of the phone. If you look you will see the little emblem up there. As for GPS, it probably means the talk button (green phone) inside the phone.
Other than those few complaints, I really like the phone. I like the automatic speakerphone feature when the phone is open, and the size of the keyboard. I like that you can change the font inside the phone to something other than your basic typing. And after some messing around I found out how to change the text message tone to whatever i want. =) All in all a good phone, but agreed that it needs some kinks worked out.
I would have to say that I do think the impact is a very nice phone. although i dont know if people have had the same problems but i have had my phone for about 4 months now and when i open or close the phone it likes to turn off by itself or also it likes to turn of when i am in the middle of typing a text message. I have tryed many things to fix this problem but now i have to go exchange it for a new one cause its not working properly no matter what I do. So i am hoping the new one will not give me any troubles.
Other than all that my favorite about the phone would be the keyboard i feel it is very easy to use and i like it much better than other phones with the qwerty keyboard. It also has very nice features but I personally do not use them all.
I do think it would be cool for a newer better, and improved version to come out but that will probably not be for a while.
I have the Impact and recently everytime i go to open it and if i press a key..the phone automatically shuts off and then turns back on right away. But, then it just does it again. Does anyone have that problem?? I really don’t know how to fix it. I tryed taking the battery out of the phone and putting it back in but it still doens’t work. Yet, i can text from the front of the touchscreen part but the keyboard shuts my phone off.
This is for vannah, yes my phone had that problem you have to call the AT&T line not the store. They’ll reboot it.
I have the impct for four months or so and one day randomly it shut off and whenever i pressed the button to turn it back on it did so, but then if i tried to press any button when it was on, it shut off. i cant seem to fix it at all. does anyone know how to help?
Christina, who left a comment on May 11th, how did you figure out how to change the email Lert tone? I have tried everything I can think of and cannot figure it out. Thank you for sharing how you figured it out!
I have the pantech impact and ive had it for at least 5 to 6 months and in general its a great phone. Sometimes when i double click a button on accident it will have to re-boost it self up again. I found it really diffuclt to change my message alert tone i had to look up how on google. I think that the battery is pretty good for someone who texts alot. I think theres no point to the touch pad screen cause you cant do anything on it anyway, I wanted to have it as a mini ipod and it held alot of music for my needs but the volume is pretty sad. I wanted to plug my head phones but there was no hook up! I thinkg that the camera is really good but where it was postioned was a bad idea. I think the screen is really good and bright i love all my diffrent choices for settings! i love the phone i would totally recommend it to anyone and i have the blue one! So if you want this phone GO for it!! its a great deal and you wont regret it. the keyboard is great for kids if they want a ful keyboard and its great for adults cause the key board buttons are large enough! bye
oh and i realized by alot of reviews people say that the phone has a stupid placing with the camera, all you really have to do is move your fingers apart around the camera and i found that its really comfortable placing cause it feels like your using a real camera! I never knew where the head phone jack is but if someone could tell me that would be great! thanks
the impact is a great phone. I really like how every thing is disinghed and i like the way they have set the front of it up. When i frist got this phone i thought that i luck from my lgview but once i got to using it relized i didnt. So to sum this all up the impact is a great phone and i would tell any one that it is and also would recadiment it for any body that is looking for a good phone
I just got this phone and am still playing around with it using it. I do love the keyboard. The only issue I have with it is when I get a text message the volume is really loud. Now I know on most phones you can turn down the text message tone but how do I do it with this phone. I know how to turn the ringer down but if I just want to turn the volume down for the text messages. All in all I think this phone is a great phone and I think once I get used to it more I will love it.
My screen fades to black too quickly and I can’t find anything to stop it. I’ve tried extending the time on the display but that does no good. Help!!!
