  • attention my fellow atnt android phone users i have took the liberty to research this so called new software update and i am here to confirm that it is totally true.I spoke with a representative from motorola whom i quoted “our servers have just received the updates and is on a random and automatic time line in which it will release the update via notification sumtime next week.” This was today 8-27-10. So people relax we’ve waited this long a few extra days won’t hurt. Seriously we can exspect notifications early next month (sept2010) enjoy;-)

If u would like to verify this post simply go to http://www.motorola.com click contact us via phone (if after hours fill out the pre response box click submit the call and speak to a motorola representative and they will confirm.

  • Yeah! Same old song and dance. “Honest, there is an update in the works, it’s coming SOON!”

My Idea of soon and Motorola’s are completely at odds with one another. If I had know that it would be later in September and I still wouldn’t have the 2.1 update, I would have an iPhone today.

I bought the Backflop and was told that the 2.2 would be available soon, like all of the other Droid phones, right as the end of my AT&T 30 day free exchange was nearing. Not wanting a phone without a physical keyboard, I took a chance and kept my Motorola device and have scoured the net and checked for updates daily since May. Whoever the “JACKASS” was that titled the link “AT&T Motorola Backflip Android 2.1 update now available” is a sadistic jerk! I think that sentiment covers everyone who finds this link and surfs in to find it a HOAX.

I read all of the posts and then I find Rick (Above), saying that he spoke with a Motorola representative… Sorry, but I have had it with reps saying whatever they need to to keep unhappy customers off their backs. I am an unhappy customer, the Backflip is a piece of crap, it is slower than my grandmother.

I went to the AT&T store and even the rep there said that it was the slowest one he’d seen. I reset it, hoping that retuning it to its original state would speed things up. It did for a day or two, but now it’s as slow as ever. I am seriously doubting that any upgrade (if it exists) will even correct the problem. So much for Motorola, I think I’ll go back to Samsung.

  • As of an hour discussion with AT&T as well as motorola, the upgrade, whatever it is is now in the hands of Google who will tell everyone else where to go when the time comes. Apparently Motorola is, on a random basis, whatever that means, pushing out an upgrade for the BackFlip 1.5 phones that will permit further upgrade in the sweet future.
