AT&T Lg Xenon Touch Screen Fixing

It’s so amazing , recently there are some customers ask us whether the AT&T Lg Xenon‘s touch screen has been fixed, they say they have heard that the lg xenon’s touch screen is very hard for it to work . Now we want to infor you that its touch screen’s response is very quick, as for this there is no need to worry.  However, sadly, the xnxon’s touch screen suffers from a slight learning curve. Though this small flaw doesn’t impair its use, we hope AT&T will fix it as soon as possible. As after all we all want to be perfect.  AT&T Lg Xenon info

  • I found A solution to the screen problem to keep it form happening and it has cured my Xenon of its fragile screen.
I bought mine and around the same amount of days(ok so like 5-6 days) my Xenon’s screen “cracked”. I went back to the store and I was given a replacement after getting the insurance plan(didn’t think I’d need it). While there I got the Clear plastic case as well as a Belt clip. He gave me a discount for only 50$ for both. I haven’t had a problem since. Hope this helps you keep yours from breaking.

  • I have had the Xenon for just at a month now and after a couple of weeks the touch screen became less responsive.
That is, I have to tap a button several times for it to register a touch. I have contacted LG and they said to recalibrate the touch screen and then remove the battery for 3-5 minutes and then replace it. This only fixed the issue marginally — I have to tap 3 times now rather than the 6 times I had to tap before.
Since the issue varies — sometimes I have to tap a button a couple of times to register a touch and then a few minutes later I only have to tap it once — it seems to involve a problem with the software controlling the touch recognition. (If it were hardware then it would always take 5-6 touches, or the problem would get progressively worse).
I hope LG comes out with a software patch/fix soon to take care of this.

  • How long time do you set the backgroud light last? Maybe you can make the backgroud light time last for a bit longer

  • Here’s a tip to new and old xenon owners; calibrate the screen a lot! I do almost every other day. It only takes a few seconds and it’s not hard at all so it’s worth it. I’ve had my phone for 2 months now and it doesn’t have any problems (except a big scratch, but that was my fault.)

    Comment by Britney — November 6, 2009

  • HI, I’ve had my xenon for a few months now. Last month the screen started becoming less and less responsive. At the time I did nothing about it, but now the screen as stopped responding all together. I cannot access anything that requires touching the screen to get into. I can answer and end calls, and scroll my phone book only because of the keyboard shortcut to the contact list. Is there anyway to access the menu from the keyboard??? I also have a huge number of text messages I cannot open (due to the unresponsive screen), and I cannot sent out messages to inform my contact list of this, as you need to touch the screen to select ‘send’.

  • My touchscreen is unresponsive and I too am looking for solutions on how to extract all of my text messages, phone numbers, pictures, and other important info from my phone. I took out the battery for a few days and it still does not work. PLEASE HELP :(

  • Ok. So. My Xenon I got about a month ago. The screen flickers really light. It blinks kind of, really fast. It’s really annoying…Id rather the screen just go back. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t for a long time. The screen is responsive, there are no cracks, it just flickers. It makes no sense. I haven’t dropped it once. One day, it just started flickering on and off, and now it does it all the time. I’ve tried taking out the battery, and leaving it alone…it does nothing. I’ve calibrated the screen, nothing. The phone hates me. Everything on the phone works fine.

But the flickering makes NO SENSE.

Since the issue varies — sometimes I have to tap a button a couple of times to register a touch and then a few minutes later I only have to tap it once. i have realized that the xenon’s screen is not made for long term use the sreen has begin to detach itself from the phone which is making it unresponsive. is there anyway this can be fixed?

  • I have this phone and am VERY unsatisfied with it. As I have dealt with it now for as long as I think I can and am ready to take a hammer and smash it to pieces. This is the WORST phone I have ever had and will never again have an LG product. The support website is as horrid as the phone. Samsung is what I will stick with, when I can get another phone, thank you LG for the wasted patience, time, and money!

  • I am now with my second xenon after bell replaced my first one for free. A black dot appeared in the centre of the screen and the touch screen is barely functional. After a week with my new one it too has the same problem. It stays in my pocket and is never dropped or anything. Is it just poorly made, or is there a way to fix this??

    Comment by Fred — December 17, 2009

  • my xenon’s screen broke (not the touchscreen but the one behind it) and i was wondering if anybody knew where i could find someone to fix it near sacramento?

    Comment by Leanna — December 20, 2009

  • i have problems with my lg xenon also. first i had one & the screen started to shake really bad, then it would quit. then it started doing it more consistently so i sent it back no problems. they sent me a new one & now i still have the same problems with it. i always just apply pressure to the area below the power buttons & it goes away. it still gets annoying having to deal with it, however.

    Comment by rachel — December 22, 2009

  • Two weeks after receiving the LG Xenon (Bell upgrade I paid $ 89.00), the screen turned into a bunch of colors and lines. Five minutes ago the phone was fine (not dropped or pressed hard). I believe BELL or LG should recall this phone and remove it from the stores. . It is useless and poorly made. I had it less than two weeks.

    Comment by Aaron — December 23, 2009

  • I too have the same issue. I have had my phone since July and I only moderately use it. The touch screen has become nearly useless. The non responsive nature is not consistent and sometimes if you power down it works again. I have recently found that if you press firmly and run your thumbs up both sides of the touch screen (on the screen itself..on the edge…not on the sides of the phone) once or twice that it seems to respond better.(Crazy right?) After i do that it usually only takes one touch for the selected icon rather than 5 or 6. (This could be just my phone or my imagination but try it what could it hurt?) It also seems to be a temporary fix. I will probably still replace the phone but it might get you through until you get a new phone.

  • I am having touch screen problems as well. I have had my LG Xenon for under a year now and the touch screen does not respond at all. At first it would select things I didn’t touch and not select what I did touch. So I try to calibrate the screen again several times, but the problem continued. Now it won’t respond at all. I’m very disappointed in this phone. The phone has not been damaged in any way. Seeing how I’ve had this for less then a year, this phone should not have any problems. I had a Motorola phone for almost 3 years and never had any problems what-so-ever. This touch screen issue is a major one. You can’t read or send text messages. You can’t get into the phone’s menu. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

  • I have had my LG for exactly 30 days. I turned on my phone this morning to check the time and turned it back off. About an hour later when I tried to turn it on the screen had lightening-like streaks on it and was unresponsive. I took it back to Best buy where I bought it but of course they won’t replace it. I called LG and they told me to send it to them and they will try to repair it. Hopefully they will stand by their product and fix it. I didn’t drop it and barely even use it so I truly think it’s a manufacturing problem. We had an LG tv that started having pixelating on the screen exactly 1 year after purchase. LG did replace the screen for free but we were w/out a tv for 3 weeks. I will not buy another LG product!

    Comment by max — February 24, 2010

  • there are just too many people with the same problem. It simply means that the phone should be out of shelves.
I just took my time to open up my Lg xenon completely thinking that the unresponsive screen was as a result of some accidental thin wire broken inside around the screen digitizer. Well everything looks oke but there’s one thing that attrcted my attention. I repair broken phone touchscreens and never come accross one with a small battery attached to the connectors between the lcd and the touchsceen. I think, LG needs to tell people the truth. what if it was that tiny watch like battery that was the problem? I am going to put it back together, then i will let you know fox the results later.

  • I haven’t had my touch screen be COMPLETELY unresponsive, on the other hand what it will do is randomly freeze, and just stop completely to where i have to take the battery off because it wont even turn off.. Plus before my screen would randomly get that random flickering but its light and really fast, but there used to be a pressure point on the screen where i could make the flickering stop if i pressed on it. This worked all of two months and now the flickering will not stop period. I hate this phone and have pity on anyone that has it..

  • I’m having the same problem as Jennwelsh.
I’ve had my Xenon for about six months.
My screen has been flickering on and off for two days now.
The first time this happened (which was about two weeks [?] ago) – it stopped after turning on and off.
But now, since it started flickering again. I tried turning it on and off about five times. Currently I have the battery out of my phone, letting it cool down. Hopefully that works – but something is telling me it won’t work.

    Comment by Djana — March 14, 2010

  • My LG ATT XENON is also having problems. i got back frm school and looked at my phone and the screen was lighter than usual and it was blinking. I tried turning it off and back on, and I triedtaking the battery out and putting it back in. It doesn’t go from the screen being there to completely dark, you can still see everything when it blinks, it just gets darker and lighter. but we only got covered by the 30 Day Warranty, so what do I do now? It also seems as if words are burning into the screen.
Wht do I do?? Help me PLZ!!

    Comment by Jessica — March 15, 2010

  • This is for lg xenon, I am now on my 2nd one both somehow they get
a little moister under the touch screen so it will not respond to your
touch, all i did was use a box cutter to lift up the plastic touch screen
just a little and take a blow dryer and dry it, you will then be able to use your LG xenon again!

    Comment by Mcguyver — March 16, 2010

  • I have had my Blue LG Xenon for around 9 months. Most of my problems have been solved, however within the past month my screen turns black. If I click the screen it still vibrates, I still receive texts and phone calls. Although, obviously, with the screen black I am unable to read texts and see exactly who is calling me. Most of the time it will just be blackened for around 5-10 minutes, but everytime it occurs again, it stays off for longer and longer periods of time. I’ve tried EVERYTHING! Turning it on and off, taking out the battery, giving it a break over night, plugging it into the charger. I will most likely just buy a cheap different phone, because my Xenon is CRAP.

Invalid calibration” and I think it’s because it’s sensing that the screen is about 6 cm to the right of where I’m touching. If anyone has had any problems similar, or knows how to fix this, PLEASE help me out. This has completely turned me off to touchscreen, it’s too easy to mess that up.

After I got off the phone, 30 minutes later it began to work again, then after 5 minutes, became unresponsive again. I had calibrated it while it was working, and that didn’t fix the problem. After another hour it worked again, then after 10 minutes, it quit and hasn’t worked since. I’ve had the LCD screen replaced after it fell and shattered, but now the touch screen is unresponsive. It’s frustrating and I still have a year and a half under contract with no warranty. And phones are expensive. And I’m tired of tossing money at a phone that has so many problems. How do I fix this phone?

    Comment by SS — May 16, 2010

And if ur phone doesnt respond dont mess around with it and dont press it to many times cuz then of course it will freeze and it might make it worse so just leave it alone for awhile and dont bother it. if it doesnt work then TRY to get a new one and give it to the people and see if they can fix it. And dont blame it on the phone maybe its U thats messing the phone up cuz mine works fine and if u dont have the patience for this phone, THEN GET A NEW ONE. my phone works fine except for this crack and a blue fat line cuz this stupid guy stepped on it but it was also kinda my fault. but at least i can see through it

My daughter has dropped her phone many times, but says nothing happend the day it stopped working. I have never dropped my phone (I take good care of my phone!) and it too has a non responsive touch screen. There seams to be a design problem with this phone!

It got a little wet about an hour or two before it malfunctioned, but it was only a couple drops of water and it’s been more wet before, so I don’t think that was the problem. The buttons all still work, but the touch screen wont respond to my touch! I have a bunch of texts that I can’t check, and it’s driving me insane. I’m thinking of just getting a whole new phone. I love this one, but there’s a lot of problems. :(

    Comment by Mindy — June 14, 2010

  • OK my touch screen has the same issue. The only thing I did before it stopped working was walk from the car to my house with my phone in a shopping bag during a light rain. It might of gotten a drop of water or two on it, at the most. After reading everyone’s problems, I’m kinda pissed because this has happened to enough people that the phone should be off the shelves. I can’t get a new one either, ALL MY PICS AND CONTACTS ARE SAVED TO THE STUPID PHONE!! I have pictures with my best friend in the world who just moved 3,000 miles away. Thanks for all the memories, LG. (More like I HATE YOU FOR ALL THE CRAP, LG!) Oh, and if you have this problem lemme just tell you taking out the battery or turning it off doesn’t work.

  • okay the first month i got the lg phone it started to act up so i woukd put it in rice for 3days to soak up all the moisture. then my phone started to not seem to touch so then i took itapart for 5 days and then started touching it and it finally worked again, now it blacks out when i slide my keyboard too slow but also if that happens you can slide it back really fast and hit the lock and unlock button a few times. my fone also turns gray like im pushing the task and end or call button at the same time but im not, so i applied pressure ubove the buttons not on the actual screen but on the black part and it works fine again but now im back with unressponsive touchscreen and it doesnt want to work

I can still send new messages( press the envelope button, type message, press the green phone button, select contact by using the arrow, then press the green phone button). But i still cant view the message.I was wondering if At&t will replace the phone. :(

  • i have had my xenon for a few months and it worked perfectly fine. i took it out of my pocket yesturday and the touch screen was completly unresponsive. i took the battery out and let it sit for a few. when i put the battery back in and turned it back on only half of the screen would respond. now its down to a quarter that is unresponsive. i have found that if i push the screen next to what i want to get into. lets say i want to text someone instead of pushing the little message icon i push the contacts icon the message icon highlights and it goes into my texts. its frustrating but thats the only way that i can do anything. so just try to push right below what you want to do or right next to it and see what happens.

  • Great.. after reading literally all of these posts I’m not as optimistic about going to get my phone checked out at the store I bought it at. I have had my phone for barely over a year and a week ago the touch screen became less and less responsive. I would press the left of the screen and it would hit a button way right of where I pressed. Over the week there has been a few times where the phone would suddenly work normally again, but its been over 2 days since that’s happened and right now the screen is totally unresponsive. I haven’t dropped it or gotten water on it recently to cause this to happen. And right now all I can do is call and look through my calls and contacts, and my inbox is full so I can’t text. I really hope I’ll be able to get a fix or a new phone because I’m going on vacation tomorrow and it will be annoying not having a fully functioning phone while on vacation.

  • Same problem as most of you have. The screen is not responding to the touch. Took it back to ATT to have it fixed and they won’t fix it. They say it’s LG’s problem yet they continue to charge me for the phone on the monthly plan even though the piece of junk LG phone wont work right and they won’t fix it.
It’s probably time for some young lawyer to create a class action suit against ATT and LG since neither want to take responsibility to at least fix this problem. If anyone knows a lawyer who could see this through, post email or something to get the ball rolling.

  • My wife and I both got the Xenon in November and about a wee ago, both touch screens started the bright, flickering thing. The screen is still fully functional, but is not very pleasant to look at. Its like the screen is highlighted or something. it happens when I touch the screen, under the screen where the att logo is and ever the green and red buttons on the front. It is random how long the flickering thing lasts too.

I haven’t taken the phones back to the att yet, but I plan to.

My problem was that the screen seemed to be badly calibrated. i would touch the screen and it would select something on the display about an inch above it. this amde it impossible to select “yes” to delete text messages, or to click the “start” button to even recalibrate the screen. occasionally it would start working correctly for a few minutes then revert back to it’s defective ways.
if you push hard on the sides of the screen and run your fingers on it up and down, it seems to work better for me. at least for now anyways!
    thanks chris!

ARRRRGGGG! i can never answer it when it rings or make calls with out devoting 30 mins of my time to trying to get the phone to do what I command it to do. my moms phone is freezing up every once in a while but the screen has faded out bad and blinks. this are the crappiest phones i have EVER OWNED! we are taking ours back and they better replace them with something else or they are going to lose our business after 16yrs! i knew i should have stuck with motorola!!

  • There is a common problem with this phone. Eventually the touchscreen is going to be nonresponsive in less than a year. Obviously a bad design by LG. This phone should be discontinued if it hasn’t already. My first phone went bad, then the second phone had the same problem. The funny thing about, two weeks after the screen stop working, it started working again for about 15 minutes. Then it stopped. Needless to say I don’t think I would buy another LG touchscreen phone. The good thing is that you can still make phone calls and access the internet using the keypad. Also you can still send text messages by (selecting the “message” button on the keypad, typing your message, then hit the green telephone button which will allow you to select the contact, then hit the green telephone button again); however you can’t read them. You have to use the touchscreen to access that feature. Also, other settings and your menu can’t be accessed.

  • I’ve kept one Motorola phone for 2 years (b/c I WANTED, not NEEDED a more modern phone), and another Motorola from 2005-2009, beat up, kicked off the bed by mistake, dropped on concrete w/ the battery flying out and everything! If that phone didn’t look old as hell, I woulda kept it forever! I saw a professor at my school that had my old phone model, and his Motorola still works! I’ve only had this LG Xenon for 9 months and it actually gave me problems! I never thought I’d have to buy a new phone because I NEEDED TO! >:(
My touchscreen is half-dead most days, and it came out of nowhere: fine Tuesday morning, battery died that night, and when the phone came back on the screen was paralyzed! And it has fits where I pressed the bottom of the screen and it responded to a button at the TOP of the screen and vice versa! What on Earth?!

  • My first LG xenon I’ve had for 6 months, and after 6 months, the screen became less responsive. I’ve had to tap the screen several times before it would respond, then one day it just stopped working completely. I would touch the screen and nothing would work. The only thing I could do was call people, everything else was unresponsive. I went down to at&t and the employees there said there was nothing they could do about it. It was a done deal for the screen. I had my dad call at&t to get a replacement and recieved a new one in the mail about 2 weeks later. The new phone I’ve had for exactly 8 months and just last night I was on the phone and tried to look at a text message and the screen was unresponsive just like the previous phone I had. I turned the phone off and took the battery out to see if that could do anything. But the screen was still unresponsive. I ended up taking the battery out and leaving it off for 6 hours. & still it was unresponsive. Is there ANY POSSIBLE way to get my phone to work again? I have important messages on my phone that I would want to keep and I’m afraid if I purchase a whole new phone (new model & everything) that I won’t be able to transfer those messages to the new phone. I just want to know if there is anything I can do to save my LG Xenon before I go out and purchase a new phone?

I can answer and end calls, and scroll my phone book only because of the keyboard shortcut to the contact list. Is there anyway to access the menu from the keyboard??? I also have a huge number of text messages I cannot open (due to the unresponsive screen), and I cannot sent out messages to inform my contact list of this, as you need to touch the screen to select ’send’.

  • My son’s LG 500 screen cracked 2 days after he purchased it. (April 2010)
Best Buy would not replace it. He dealt with it until it finally bled black.

We found a website that sell LG 500 screens ( for $40 bucks.
Replacement was fairly easy. See YouTube for videos.

Now we have intermittent non-responsive issue:
-calibration only works for a while
-rubbing the edges with your thumbs gets it back working, only for a while.
-have not tried drying it out but will as we live in a wet climate.

If he had read about all of these issues before, he never would have bought this PoS.
He is saving for an iPhone 4…..

I started messing around with the top screen layer. At first I peeled it up a little bit, but when I saw the contacts I decided it probably wasn’t a good idea. So I started pressing it back down. Just for the heck of it I ran my thumbs all the way around the edge of the screen pressing down firmly. I did it a couple of times up by the ear piece.

Right after that the touch screen started working again has if nothing was ever wrong.

Good luck with your Xenons. At the moment I’m just hoping mine last long enough to get a replacement.

I didn’t drop it…ever. What is going on with this phone? I’ve read so many bad things and feel terrible. Bell sent it to LG who told me it was physical damage by me. I was so careful with the thing. It was just resting in a loose pocket. They told me it would cost $110 to fix it. Okay thanks, give it back and I’ll smash it for real.

  • Yes, the LG factory touchscreen is pathetic.
And yes it gets cracked unbelievably easy too….
And yes, the touchscreen from the factory jobs will just stop working without much warning.

The rest of the phone is pretty cool. Why cheap out on the screen? who knows…

With all that said, I have found LG replacment LCD screens on Ebay for about $25.00

They are fairly straight forward to put in (especially if you have a huge magnifying light handy, and tiny tiny screw driver sets). (old fashioned watch makers tools basically). There’s a set of instructions for swapping floating around on the network that are invaluable for this job.

The first time you replace the screen it takes about 2 hours, after the 3rd time it takes about 15 minutes.

25.00 vs. the $50.00 deductable on the plan, or the $100 to $150 fee if you don’t have a plan.. not too bad, but you gotta have a pretty steady hand and a bunch of patience, or it would be really easy to just explode the phone with a fast ball pitch against the wall.. :) Good luck all.

My touchscreen also stopped working. But I came on here, read through all the messages, and then decided why not mess with it? A few people have mentioned pressing the sides of the screen. What I did was peel the screen up a little bit, the entire side with the red and green buttons. You can do this with your fingernails. Well I pressed it back into place, and the touchscreen immediately started working again. I doubt it is a permanent fix, but hopefully it will get me through the days I have to wait for AT&T to ship me a new phone.

  • I hate this phone. I’ve been having the SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE TOUCHSCREEN FOR THE LAST MONTH.
So here’s my temp fix to the problem. First, I run my thumb down the middle of the screen. Then, I blow into the slot for the charger. If that doesn’t work, I blow under the keyboards. Close it, rub it again.
It’ll work eventually. This phone still sucks.

  • okay i have the xenon, i got it for christmas last year. So that tells you a lot, now i will be the first to admit yeah ive dropped it it has scratches and what not, but ive never dropped it on the screen, id flip out. before the major problem started this was the magical thing that was happening. I was sitting on my bed texting, i went to close it and send when i noticed the screen would turn pink and other screwed up colors only for a second though. now i went to a football game, i was messing with friends when they pressed a little harder than normal on it, now it does that a lot and flickers and turns off randomly. Now to top it all of it sometimes stays all screwed up with the colors for hours, i have to either poke the screen really hard in certain spots, or open and close it about 40 times.. i like the phone till all that happened, now i have the at&t eternity, now thats a nice phone. sorry but in all reality they have a lot of work to do on these screens , and FYI people you can take you at&t phone sims card and switch with any phone.

  • Here’s a solution that worked for me and will probably work for most DIY’ers out there. My wife and I each have an LG Xenon which are about a year and a half old.

On one phone, the screen was extremely bright and flickering all the time. I ordered a replacement lcd screen off eBay and that fixed the problem. This would probably work for those who complained that the screen just stayed dark or for various other display problems. Search eBay for “lg xenon lcd” to find a replacement. I spent $12.

The other phone quit responding to any touches. Everything else worked fine. I ordered a replacement digitizer off eBay and that fixed that problem. Search eBay for “lg xenon digitizer” to find a replacement. Cost: $6.

There’s a nice YouTube video that shows how to replace both parts.

    Comment by ringtoss — January 11, 2011

  • To all of you who’s touchscreen has stopped working. You can buy a new digitizer from ebay for about 13-20 dollars. Its a lot cheaper and easier than trying to get Lg to stand by their horrible product.

  • OK let me tell you how my LG touchscreen issue was resolved. YMMV:

My son told me he touchscreen stopped working and that it started a few days before he told me. There was no visible damage to the screen or phone. No evidence of beer deposits either. When the phone was off, if I held it at an angle in the light I could see a rectangular area under the main protective covering on the touch screen surface that was “discolored”, sort of a rainbow effect, similar to what you might see at the edge of an area by your finger tip when you press a touchscreen that actually works. This may in fact be the normal appearance. I did not check this before the phone was broken, mostly because he would think I’m snooping into his inbox. (Heh,he forgot a long time ago he gave me his hotmail password.Any there’s always L0phcrack for this ol’ man)I digress… To me, this looked a little like moisture/condensation. The phone was still under warranty but I imagine the provider (Bell Aliant-stock ticker f#$!u) would somehow find a way to deny the coverage so it was time to bring on the tools! At first I tried to gently pry a small portion of the edge of the screen up with an exacto knife and I slipped and put a small slice into the cover but not all the way through.Whew! Ok since I drink too much caffeine I put the knife away and I had to go to my 50 cent backup
take one baggie, empty weed remnants
turn baggie inside out so any contents deposited in said baggie will not have weed like after-aroma
insert baggie full of white rice (I know some dumba$$ will ask, so NO you do not cook the rice first, only after you are finished if you so choose. Choose the brand you like most.Mine is Basmadi from Morocco-I only hope I’m not supporting Northern African terrorists. • Well, I’ve had my phone for almost 2 years. I’ve had it and its done less and less things. I can’t access anything and I just got the data plan. How can I fix this? It’s not the first time I’ve had problems with this phone. I’ve dropped it in the toilet before and put it in rice then it worked then today (2-26-11) it decided to stop working with the touch. I’ve tried to fix it but it doesn’t work. It’ll work for a while after its fixed then I have to fix it again. Please help me. This phone is off the shelves now, but it needs to be exited off every site.

  • I bought an LG Xenon in June of 2010. I had to return it a day later due to problems with the touch screen. I am still having problems with the touch screen. I called LG and they are unwilling to fix it even though I am still within the warranty.

  • so i just got my phone working and to help all of you out there it is very simple. my touch screen was not working at all. i have had my phone for going on 3 yrs now and i have never had any problems with it till today. i let it charge then once it was finished it still was not working so i cut the protective cover (not sure thats what its called but its the part of the phone that you touch and under this piece of plastic is the screen.) where it connects to the color part of the phone with my fingernail and pulled it back a little. the protective cover was stuck to the screen. it sounds dangerous to fiddle around with but all thats holding it there is some sticky glue so why not give it a try. worst that happens is your screen still does not work. i hope this helps

  • My Lg Xenon has two major problems that U have been trying to fix for a while. One while on a call I cannot hear anything out of the speaker, I have to turn it onto speaker phone to hear anything. And two every time I flip the screen up to type on the keyboard, the screen goes black. I know the phone is still on because the lights are still on and even when I put the top screen back to its original position it still is black. Because of this I am not able to use they keyboard at all. Does anyone know how to fix ether of these?

    Comment by John — April 24, 2011

  • If you’re having the problem with the touchscreen freaking out and being really hard to read with the colors all screwed up, pay attention to the earlier posts about peeling up (just a little) the bottom right corner of the touchscreen. I couldn’t quite do it with my fingernails, but a box cutter or exacto knife works great. Just insert in the crack between the plastic screen and the border, peel up gently and magically the colors all return to normal and you can read the display again. I had given up trying to use my phone because it was stuck with the display freaked out for several weeks. I tried this and it worked immediately. Note, if you press it back down firmly it will go back to freaking out so I suspect I’ll have to repeat this procedure often.

It began flickering about 2 weeks after i got it.I agree with the fact these phones should be placed on recall since many many people are having trouble with it. I just want to know how to fix it until I can get a new phone.

AT&T i would like a soultion other then visiting my local AT&T store

  • ok, folks, quick solution to this problem: if your xenon screen is not responding (but still looks fine, etc), try the following tip (copied and pasted from above)

What I did was peel the screen up a little bit, the entire side with the red and green buttons. You can do this with your fingernails. Well I pressed it back into place, and the touchscreen immediately started working again

i pretty much got my fingernail into the corner, didn’t even lift, and felt the screen return.

    happy fixes!

  • I have had my phone for just over 2 years. It has not been abused or dropped in water…verified when my last support call for this phone when the agent had me check all three locations of moisture sensors on my phone. It is out of warranty.

I have had two major problems:

the slide on the keyboard opening, but the auto rotate function does not initiate. Ultimately, it was an AT&T software update issue. It resolved permanently and suddenly one day about 2 weeks after I spoke to a sales rep in an auth dealer location. Problem has never returned.

Ok. suddenly had touchscreen freeze, but ONLY for functions! It auto rotates, I have clear images, the keyboard acknowledges and can manipulate the screen. I can make calls using the QWERTY keyboard, I can type, but not send texts (they only save to drafts). I believe this is a software issue…again, the updates!

The reason why is this…a phone call to my phone from another phone can resolve the issue for about 10-20 minutes, including finger slides to move from one pic to another. I navigate the menus, etc as normal, then, it suddenly freezes again. That is not a phone issue unless it is an intermittent hardware failure in a control circuit. (Can happen when a slightly incorrect voltage fails to gate or switch on a portion of a circuit…can happen as a circuit ages, and my phone has hit it’s lifespan of over 2 years)

Many people on here are actually having real physical issues with the phone, and the suggestion of replacing the digitizing circuit is a good one, because this is the circuit group that interacts with the screen to produce the signals the phone must read to convert analog/pressure to digital. But I have had to have this phone updated at a dealer several times, since it seem to have problems with updating via reboot, as it normally should.

This phone has had constant problems for my son, who had the exact same phone, went through 2 before giving up and changing to a Samsung. My daughter had a Samsung Impression, but dropped it, cracker the screen, so she upgraded to a Blackberry. I am just going to dump this phone, buy my own choice so I don’t have to deal with AT&T and sign a new contract for another two years with a shitty phone holding me hostage again. No more contracts, and no more LG products, including phones. I’m done here, because LG will not stand behind their manuf. warranty, even under the 1 year mark.

  • My Lg Xenon screen if freezing on me like crazy. I have trouble accessing my messages and I had to take out the battery 4 times already today! I have recalibrated the touch screen in the settings numerous times within the last couple of days. The problem seems to resolve sometimes but other times I have to turn it off again. Teh battery also drains very fast. I would not recommend this phone at all. I am even thinking about a phone with no touch screen! Sometimes I will press the envelope symbol to get my messages and it keeps pressing the symbol above it! I literally was ready to throw my phone against the wall this morning and I just may have if my son was not asleep in the room! LG needs to fix this issue immediately!

  • I have had this phone just short of 2 years (1 yr 11months) when i started having issues with the touch screen… was able to re-calibrate it twice and was fine. Have learned all of the keyboard access shortcuts only after having problems. Well, except retrieving texts. UGH! No manual answer for that! For those that get on the internet alot….clear your cache… that helps when it freezes (under other options in tools)… then take out battery for 2 minutes and restart..or have ATT walk you through. I HAVE LOVED this phone til recently as there is no manual text retrieval… I use for business and it’s a bit embarassing…. but not as bad as the people that have iphones that don’t work here in Vegas! I called 2 weeks ago to complain, and they said that 3 towers were “deteriorated” and were fixing….
hmm… to leave or not too? been with them for 13 years and never a problem…well, except that Cingular incident.

  • this phone is so stupid! okay, first of all i can’t download anything because it says the “memory’s full” even though i don’t have ANY pictures, videos, audio, games or anything! i had to delete them all because my “memory was full” another thing is that my screen flickers. every time i look at my phone i feel like i’m having a seizure! also, my screen stops working at least 2 times a day. it’s annoying (like everyone said) because i can’t get to the main menu and i can’t look at my texts or anything. i should be getting a new phone in the next week or so but this has seriously been the worst phone i’ve ever had.

  • Touchscreen frozen or unresponsive? Use edge of fingernail, razor or thin tip of knife to jusr barely raise the edge of your screen. . . Just enough that it will rest itself. The bottom right had corner above the red button worked for me but you nay have to do the whole bottom or the lower left. Lift slowly with barely any pressure until screen resets.

  • My phone’s touch got messed up after only 8 months of use. When I touch one button, that particular button won’t open but the one beside it will light up and then open (i.e. if I want to open my texts, I have to touch the button BESIDE the text message button).

It’s so dumb. I hate this company. I’m never buying a phone from here again.

Okay so my touch screen had moisture under it and was completely unresponsive. On a whim I decided to pry up the touch screen with my fingernail. Somehow that removed the moisture and now my phone works.

  • I’ve had my LG Xenon for about at least 2 and a half years, and the calibration started to not work when I accidentally dropped and left my phone in the car on a cold day. It still worked, but progressively just got worse. Now it barely works. Wish AT&T would just release an LG Xenon 2 that doesn’t have that issue. The most similar AT&T phone I’ve found is the Samsung Flight 2, and that was a piece of junk compared to the Xenon, it seemed like it was made years before the Xenon.

    Comment by Joseph — February 20, 2012

  • I feel like I am the last person to own this LG XENON…since all I ever use it for is voice, I kept it as an ATT customer – but now I will be leaving ATT since I am not under contract. However, I had problems with the touch screen after about 1 year. Then I ordered a replacement part, took the phone 1/2 apart and then put it back together again but never replaced the part. It seemed to fix itself, I got my display back and the touch calibration started working again. The touch calibration had been all wonky and off…which made it unresponsive. It finally got realigned and worked again. The screen would also go blank frequently. Performance improved (I thought) after getting a new battery. Now after one year, it started going blank again…. I can still dial and receive calls, but there is no display even with the repair and a new battery. I replaced the display screen . After getting it all back together, the phone is still working, but the problem isn’t solved. I never liked the phone very much but paid out for it and tried to get my money’s worth. It’s too bad LG didn’t make this phone better quality – it has really turned me off to their company. I doubt I will buy anything LG ever – maybe I would accept a free LG phone but I would even t=have reservations about that.
